so, the executive producer calls me at 6:00 last night and says....."jason, i know the beer is not ready, but we are shooting the bar scene tomorrow after lunch" (they were going to use the beer as a prop, and then they weren't.  last night, they realized they were wanting to use it) "and i need a six pack of something with some fizz that looks like beer and i need it tomorrow at lunch time.  can you make this happen?"

of course i can make this happen......

so, we don't get many, and this is the only one we get in a plain brown bottle.  a commercial black ipa, re-labeled for the movie.

and suddenly, the beer is back in the film!

I have no idea what my mill is set to and I don't care.  As long as I get the crush I want it doesn't matter.

LOL  nice one.

Might be nice to do a Wheat for the people that will not drink DARK BEERS :(

it's really just an ipa.  i'm not even sure that the majority will enjoy hoppy beers (mississippi is pretty behind in the beer scene), but the executive producer loves them, hence the batches of hoppy.

Depending on the size of the cast and crew, you may need more than 6 cases... But congrats on the opportunity.  Also glad to see that your local laws allow it to be shared so openly!

oddly, homebrewing won't be legal in mississippi until july 1, 2013, which is before the wrap party on the 19th of july.  this was more like, i mentioned it to the executive producer who loves ipas and he thought it was a great idea.  i'm not sure local laws permit this, but i'm not sure they prohibit it either.

i brewed another ipa and a double ipa last night, so i have 15 gallons fermenting.

the executive producer is coming by today so we can talk timeline for when they need to be ready so i can decide when to begin to dry hop and bottle.

the imdb link for the film.....     http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2827058/?ref_=sr_1

they just announced the guy who will be playing the main character......

Malcolm McDowell

how awesome is that....

the female lead role will be played by Hani Furstenberg!

Congrats!  Good luck with that Black IPA.

I think homebrewed beer is currently a pretty hot commodity in the movie industry, at least in some circles.  My twin brothers co-directed an independent feature, "Winter in the Blood", their second feature movie that is based on the first novel of a close family friend, and it will premiere at the L.A. Film Festival next month.  The Montana Film Commission is hosting a party for them after the first showing, and I heard they had someone brew some kind of a wheat beer for the party.

i brewed the beer this weekend and it's fermenting as we speak.

The Pub / Re: A bomber is rarely a good deal

so many bomber only beers, this is kind of a non-issue to me.  perhaps if i lived in a beer rich area, but living in a beer wasteland, you buy what you can in whatever form factor they have at whatever price is on the bottle.

options would be nice.

I am thinking, harvested cleaned avacado, lemon juice, and vacuum sealer along with refrigeration....

If you leave the seed in they won't discolor. So I would mash up several together, and vacseal along with the pit. Should refrigerate for a while.

great info.  thanks.
