Nice article and interesting dilemma he faces.  How many of us would take the plunge rather than a secure livelihood.  Noticeably all ales and no lagers yet - refrigeration costs must make it cost prohibitive at this point for them?

Lagers take 2-3 times as long to turn around for consumption and tie up tanks that could be producing quicker turning ales.

The final round score sheets are making their way. A couple guys in my club had theirs on hand at our meeting this past weekend.

Batch sparge for me.

APA and ESB onto the second round.

Turns out the batch sparged ESB ended up with a Bronze.

Events / Re: NHC 1st Round Indy

Received my sheets last week and was very pleased.
Had an APA score 40.5 and place 3rd and and ESB at 35 also place 3rd.
My best beer, a Belgian Dark scored 41.5 but did not show as placing in the mini BOS round. 
Also had and American Brown and Amber place both around 33 or 34.
 
Big thanks to the judges, as the comments were very well thought out and thorough.

We are starting to plan a trip there perhaps this summer.  Mike, is there a hotel or B&B you know of or can recommend for a long weekend?  I appreciate all the other good links.

Here is my favorite place to stay in Asheville, I've spend 3 of my Asheville trips here.  A little on the pricey side but a superb place to stay with the better half.

In the winter I'll brew in the garage and bring the kettle inside to the laundry room sink to run water through the chiller.  The 10 gallon cooler will be fine for holding the mash within 2-3 degrees in your garage. 

If you don't have a good place inside to run water for chilling, you could explore the possibility of no chill brewing for the winter.

Others have done a good job outlining many points.

Beer sales from package stores and grocery stores is not allowed on Sundays. If you want to pickup some Midwestern beers not available at your home area, be sure to do so by Saturday. You can purchase growlers from the brewpubs on Sunday.

I'd also add Flat 12 as a brewery / tasting room to visit. They are pretty close to Sunking and have some quality brews, I'm a fan of their Porter.
