It's funny I look this up on the other sites and google. No real answers yet. It's amazing because the board moderators let it turn into bulls*** politics, At&t versus verizon versus iphone et cetera et cetera. Seems like nobody cares about answering the real question. Somehow chest thumping seems to be appropriate? What I'm here to tell you that my pecker is bigger than yours and I have sprint so where's a brewing app for droid?

General Homebrew Discussion / What makes a beer "Imperial"

Most people assume that any "Imperial" type brew has to have quite a substantial amount of bittering units.... to have survived the long sea voyages. Wouldn't later kettle hops have accomplished exactly the same thing without all the harsh bittering and probably been more effective in "keeping" the beer due to greater amounts of late hops having been used? I like IPA's but I think I'm finding that I like them simply because they are bigger beers with more hop aroma and flavor... the bitterness isn't really what I look for or enjoy in a good IPA. Jmo.... what do you all think about the subject?

I really like Two Hearted Ale as an all around IPA, and I also enjoy their Kalamazoo Stout. HopSlam... well, you either love it or hate it is what I get from those who have tried it. I'm not into Wheat beers because it messes with my stomache so I haven't tried the Oberon.

Weird cat: Katie one of our cats, spayed now, is a very serious bird stalker. She watches the bird feeder with great intensity, she's even caught a couple now when she's been outside (rare occasions). Anyway... of all things, she "mothers" our Banty chicks. 
She sleeps by them every night. Just thought I'd share that... it strikes me funny is all.

So many people are saying they've "seen" bin Laden's death pictures online and they really believe it! OMG! Come On people... Wake Up! 
According to the news, no pics have been released so that ought to be a big clue.
The big question is... is the story real or is it faked. The story keeps changing, fire-fight one time and no armed guards the next. So why was there a fire-fight if nobody was armed, including bin Laden? IMO... IF he was killed then it was done with extreme prejudice which I would agree with... I'm just suprised they didn't take him live for other purposes... I mean hey, they shot his wife in the leg (deliberately non-fatal) and him in the head (a no brainer). pun intended.

$4.18 here for regular unleaded.
I ran out of gas about 50 feet from my driveway Friday night. I was coming home from work, I had stopped at the gas station across the steet before heading home but they had sold out of regular and mid-grade and the clerk couldn't get the pump to turn on for some reason so I chanced it coming home... glad it made it that far. I put it in first gear and used the starter to get it into my driveway... uphill.

Weed and feed, pre-emergence, post emergence, etc. etc.
I was watching a commercial recently about one of these chemicals and it made me wonder how much of it gets put into our groudwater and eventually ends up in our drinking water unless you drink distilled water. I've been lucky or unlucky enough to see how much water has changed over the last fifty years, its pretty amazing really... water that once used to be pristene(sp?) now has to be tested. There is water that you can now... feel (slick) as well as smell and taste... now that is disgusting. I think it was last year that I saw some news footage or something filmed over in the UK, it was talking about how everyday people contributed more chemicals and toxins to the water supply than farmers that use chemicals to treat their land. It seems the average person or household overtreats perhaps? I dunno but the commercial made me want to run out and buy some weed preventer at first... thats when I thought otherwise...

General Homebrew Discussion / Tastebuds

I've been sampling beer every few weeks and my tastebuds are finally coming back around I think. I can drink Red's Rye PA and Centennial IPA without my mouth and face contorting. My wife picked up some Bud last night and I tried that too... believe it or not, the first couple of sips there is actually taste the hops, they're floral... then they're gone, lost in the rice or something.
Anyway... I'm able to drink a few now and again... again.

The Pub / Heat Wave?

Its in the mid to high 20's (f) here... I'm sweating like a pig, I had to take my tee-shirt off even its so damn hot in the house now! I just hope the temperatures don't bounce us around for the next month or so.... I can handle it one way or another with subtle changes but damn... its HOT right now!
