People have been calling Microsoft "idiots" and saying they're doomed for years. What's different about this time? I remember people saying all the same stuff about Vista and 7 too.

I don't think they are idiots nor do I think Windows is going away. But egads Windows 8 is a nightmare.

Since Windows 8 was released, I've been buying laptop PCs for our company through Toshiba Direct and pay a little extra to "downgrade" to Windows 7 Pro.  We've had really good results.

I've only done decoctions when I missed my mash temperature, so when are you pulling the decoctions to add them back to the main mash for the full rest times?  Or do you ignore the time it takes to get the decoctions up to temp?

Check Kai's discussion of decoction mashing here http://braukaiser.com/wiki/index.php?title=Decoction_Mashing and watch the videos, too.  I've played around with a few different decoction schedules through the years, and use different schedules for different styles.  I've always seen a little bump in efficiency except when using only a single decoction to reach mashout temp.

Whirlfloc in the boil, then most beers clear very well with a little time in the keg.  Like others, I'll transfer to another keg if the beer is going to travel.

It varies a lot, but most often it's the local classic rock radio station - the more Led Zeppelin, the better.  I also sometimes tune-in to a ball game during football or baseball season.

I'm running a little behind schedule this year, but I'll be brewing my annual Maibock.  I guess we'll tap it a little later in May instead of on the 1st weekend like we usually do.  Tapping the Maibock is part of our annual Fruhjarhsfest and the raising of the Maibaum - so that will just have to be a couple weeks late this year.

I'll also be racking a German Pilsner to a lagering keg, and kegging a batch of AIPA.

Is it the rye flavor you're after, or the spicy flavor of the caraway seeds that are often used in rye bread?  It doesn't seem like the bread (without seeds) in the mash would add much character - especially flavor - to the beer.  You can get "bread-like" flavors by balancing your malt bill.   If it's the caraway flavor notes that you're seeking, I think you could just crack or crush some seeds and add them to your kettle as a late or knock-out addition.  I don't know how much seeds to add, but I'd maybe start with 1/2 teaspoon crushed.
