Yes, it's enameled cast iron, so it's not as much maintenance as the bare stuff.  I use a raw cast iron skillet for toasting/roasting chiles (fresh and dried), garlic, onion, and for making homemade tortillas.

I love using cast iron.  I have a Le Creuset dutch oven and a braising pan -- awesome cookware.

Commercial Beer Reviews / Re: Lagunitas Brown Shugga' (Sweet Release)

Ahh Lagunitis, I just love their beers. Love the Brown Shugga. Did a clone a while back that wasn't too bad at all. I just wish I could buy their beers locally.

We just started getting it locally about a year ago. I love their beer.

Commercial Beer Reviews / Lagunitas Brown Shugga' (Sweet Release)
« on: November 14, 2009, 02:37:14 PM »
Last night I had two pints of this stuff at one of my local watering holes.  I had already had two pints (Bells Two Hearted and Left Hand Milk Stout) prior to the Brown Shugga' and had no idea that it was a 9.5% beer!  After the second Lagunitas, I couldn't understand why I felt so tanked.  This morning I woke up with a bastard behind the eyes, checked the Lagunitas website, and it all made sense.  Sorry, I don't have tasting notes -- there's no way I would have remembered my impressions anyway.   :o

I'll add that my wife had moonshine out of a ball jar with ZZ Top.  Not beer, but a pretty good story nonetheless.   ;D

I have an All-Clad non-stick omelette pan that's been working great for several years.

Hmm..."schlong" kept popping up (pun intended   ;D) in my random beer names almost every other time.  Strange.

UPDATED 5/7/10:

My name is Matt and I'm 31 years old, married, and have one child.  I'm an attorney working on behalf of a state agency.

I've been brewing since November 2005.  I brewed three or four extract batches w/grain and then moved to partial mashing.  Starting at about batch ten, I went all-grain.  I just brewed batch 71 last weekend.  I became interested in craft beer when I turned 21 -- back in 2000 -- and was working as a server at Boscos Brew Pub in Nashville, TN.  I remember one of the Nashville homebrew clubs meeting there regularly and thinking to myself, "these guys are nuts...you must have to invest in thousands of dollars worth of equipment to make decent beer at home!"  Obviously, I was wrong!

Prior to going to law school, I was a working guitar player in Nashville.  I did this for about eight years, recording and touring pretty regularly, but not with anyone particularly notable.  After so many years of making peanuts and having to work odd jobs to support my music habit, I decided to go back to school.  Other than having to deal with such an awful job market right now, going back to school was the best thing I ever did, aside from marrying my wonderful wife.   ;)  I still play guitar quite a bit.  In fact, I just recorded some tracks for my brothers' (two of 'em) forthcoming album a few weeks ago.

Hmm...I was listening to Sirius the other day and the DJ said it was going to retail for over $300.  I guess he was wrong.

I just did the ziplock baggie thing for the first time a few days ago with some Wyeast 1214.  I'm planning on saving some 1272 using this method next week.

Not the greatest quality photo, but at least it's beer related.   ;D

The remasters do sound incredible.  Unfortunately, the remastered package is $300+, which is a little disappointing to me.  I mean, I'd love to have the whole remastered catalog, but I can't shell out that kind of cash.

Every so often, I enjoy a beefeater gin martini, dirty.  I like to add just enough vermouth to kiss the rocks.  Then add the gin, some olive juice, and shake.  Pour into chilled martini glass and garnish with some speared olives.

I had a beer with actor James Marsden, who played cyclops in the X-Men movies.  He was also in Superman Returns.

I had several beers with country music figures when I lived in Nashville.  Terri Clark bought me a beer at Tootsie's once...haha.

Oh, and this is pretty lame, but I've had beers with Gavin Rossdale of Bush, the guys in Maroon 5, Sister Hazel, Leigh Nash of Sixpence (I grew up with her ex-husband) and plenty of other rock n roll has-beens back when I was playing in my band.

edit: I just remembered that I had a beer with Josh Homme in NYC when my band opened for Eagles of Death Metal.
