Red I'm glad you brought up the report card.  Its staggering how poor our infrastructure as a whole is.  From my personal experience having worked as a civil engineering for 8 years and specifically on bridges for half of that time deficient bridges are all to common.  Good thing their were no fatalities.

I dont think their is going to be much color change. Just thinking assuming a quarter gallon of 17 SRM slurry into 5 gallons on fresh wort at 4.5 SRM yields a net 5.0 SRM beer. Maybe I'm thinking too simplistic

Brewing up an standard Bitter on Monday. Fermenting half with WLP002 and the other half with cultured dregs from a few bottles of Jolly Pumpkin ESBam.

Even with all the registration issues, I like the online system.  I might be in the minority on this but I don't remember being able to see my scores before receiving the scoresheets (still no sheets from NYC).

My fiance has been trying to kick a keg of APA for like two weeks now. He's been drinking about 3 glasses a night every other night and can't kick it.

The snarkiness in me is screaming Get a Bigger Glass  At 3 pints a night, it should be gone after about 2 weeks. 

As for checking levels.  I do the lift and/or tip method too.

Not sure if your looking to stick with dry yeast but if you are, I like Nottingham by Danstar.

I agree with Major on the carapil and additions.  Since you have so many additions I would suggest a neutral yeast like US-05 and save the 068 for something where you really can enjoy the phenols it produces...

I've made a number of batches with both syrup and all sap brew liquor substitution.  I've never tested the pH or composition but then again I'm usually making a brown or porter and I have more to hid behind.

If I were going to make a pils with the sap the "water" profile would be more important for obvious reasons.

IMO I prefer the sap as it seems to be more woody and the syrup tends to make the batch sweeter and for lack of a better work syrupy...
