Some shops get those buckets by the pallet during harvest. Some require you to pre-order them. That should cut shipping down.

Not Bo Pils, but I've used Weyermann floor malted marris otter and loved it.

I'm getting the same screen as euge.

Yeah, same as everyone except Denny apparently. :-\

He's an Administrator! He should have a different screen than us reprobates.

Hmmmm....I wonder if Drew has it?  Ron is a mod, not an admin, so that might explain it.

Wait, I thought we were an autonomous collective?

Normal? What's normal? Sounded like a vigorous ferment - check the gravity and you'll know if it is done.

With IE9 anyway, I was able to fix this by viewing the site using compatability mode. Apparently the anchor links are not working correctly in the browser, and a quick search makes me think it is a widespread problem.

For me, on my browser at least, when I open a thread and click 'Go Down' the page jumps to the top post ("Go Up" at the bottom goes to the same place). Glitch or just me? Anyone else?

I made a elderberry/blackberry ale (pale ale base, but not pale anymore). Saison de la Ware - I like it.

Yeast and Fermentation / Delaware Native Ale yeast

If you haven't heard of this, a few months ago Dogfish Head made an entirely Delaware beer with Delaware barley, fruit, hops ... and a yeast strain isolated from a local orchard by University of Delaware and Dogfish's yeast lab. The yeast is temporarily for sale through our local homebrew shop - Extreme Brewing.

The Pub / Re: Compact fluorescent bulbs
« on: February 16, 2012, 07:01:26 PM »
I remember reading somewhere that the mandates which were pit in place to effect a transition over to CFLs or LEDs has been lifted, or at the very least,  postponed indefinitely.

I don't believe they were lifted. The mandates only specified a certain minimum efficiency level for a bulb technology to be sold in the US. Several incandescent types have been developed that hit that level.

It was not lifted, however Congress did not fund enforcement for 2012. Next year will depend on the next budget.

Kegging and Bottling / Re: What's a "volume"?
« on: February 15, 2012, 06:46:42 PM »
1 volume is 1 liter of CO2 at 1 atmosphere in 1 liter of fluid (beer).

Woudn't it be dependent on the volume the beer occupies? As in - a 5 gallons of beer in a keg at 2.5 volumes contains 12.5 gallons of CO2 in .....

Nevermind, that what you wrote.

Square tube is much stronger than angle - Take a look

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOraQWLSV1I

The throwing arm is 1.5 inch 3/32 square tube - threw an 8lb pumpkin 1000 feet.

The joints on that design would be the biggest concern, if there was one. Small plate steel gussets would solve that.

I wouldn't worry about the foam, or lack of foam. I also would have left it where it was, unless below 60 or so.

We mixed up fermenters once. We had made a corona clone for my father-in-law and a wit - bottled the corona thinking it was the wit - WORST WIT EVER!  A few days later we bottled the other one and realized our mistake.
