There was a guy here in OR who opened a brewery after hitting the lottery.  In a few years, he was broke....

I'd try it if I hit one of them $100M jackpots and just needed something to pass the time   8)

Maybe I missed it in one of the posts above but what temperature did you mash this at?  Are you sure that your thermometer is accurate?

I think this is what you're saying but just save some of the slurry in a sanitized jar.  Then make a starter using a few tablespoons of the slurry the week before your ready to brew.  That will work fine.  You wouldn't want to make the starter and then let it sit for a month without adding a little fresh wort to wake things up.

I'm using a regular kettle so I don't know how a keg would fit on it.

Where's the information for submitting entries?  I've poked around the site a couple of times but didn't see it.  I'm sure it's right in front of my face.

That one says 75K Btu.  You'd probably be a lot better of with the SP-10...

...that'll give you 185K Btu and it's only $39.96 with free shipping.

+1 That's what I have and it's a beast.  And you can't beat the price.

No brewing for me this weekend.  Bottling the stout I brewed two weeks ago.

I was always under the impression that a round cooler made for better lautering when fly sparging however I see from the comments above that this isn't necessarily the case, so I stand corrected.

If you were going to fly sparge a round cooler would be preferable.  But I saw your post that you picked up a 70 qt Coleman Xtreme.  That will work great for batch sparging once you get it converted.

Thanks.

I'd consider aiming for 1.045 and hitting 1.042 to be pretty successful actually.

Kai, are the projected pH values in your spreadsheet at room temperature?
