Allrighty then..... phase one of "Operation Fermentation" is complete. Mudroom done. Momma has her carpeted, insulated, heated coat rack and 37 pair shoe storage, not to mention the pantry space and so on..... But, Fridgie snuck in and has a home, complete with mood lighting and a stuffed parrot watching over him.... ;D

Tomorrow we go to the brew supply and install keggeration......

Meanwhile I found this on eBay.....

Nice and heavy, 5 gallons just under the rim....$99......

Outstanding, this is what I wanted to hear. Reason is, that the beer fridge, soon to move into the freshly completed mud room off the kitchen is about as much as I can introduce into the domestic system. An additional lagering fridge would raise eyebrows.....waaayyyy high, I may even get "the look"..... :o BUT, beer fridge is big enough to house 3 Corny's and a carboy, at say, 40ºF, so we can lager and serve at the same temp......

Moving right along here.

Excuse the newbie...... But what is the range for lagering temps. Is it per the recipe? Or is there a standard range, specifically, what is the lower end......is 40ºF OK?

Trendy in Ohio.... hmm....  good luck with that.

Guess you've never been to the Great Lakes Brewing Company in Cleveland...... I was getting outstanding ales there in 1991......and they've been around longer than that..... A great restaurant with a brewery attached..... long before all that shid was popular.

I like the setup on the left with the bucket below the shelf........ Problem is the wine coolers are not cheap..... But then again, the glass door is VERY snazzy. One can crank it up to 60 to do the initial and see everything......then down to 45 for the lagering....hmmmmmmmm.....

There be lagering in the grand plan, but..... Controlled. So a small fridge that will hold a carboy. Problem is, all those cute little (cheap) fridges have a hump in the back of the bottom floor where the mechanics hide.....

Sooooo, what is the smallest cheapest thing that will hold a carboy?

OK, excuse the dumb newbie, but why are we cutting the hose to adjust the pressure, and not adjusting the pressure? What am I missing?

Electric finished, insulation in, drywall up, first layer of mud on the seams. Fridgies home is almost done.....

Getting the final list of keg parts and pieces done. I got my mitts on a pair of pin connect cornies..... Since I want a ball system (alll my brew friends are pin, and I want to be able to connect to their jockey boxes, I'll need to order the Foxx Equipment converter pieces (pin to ball). Anyone have experience with these? Good? Bad?

Why am I not surprised to find Scadians on a brew forum... Lol. My inspiration is a Mistress who has 13 or so Cornies floating around her basement and makes substantial contributions to melée morale.

Yes the wife will be catered to. Unfortunately she has simple beer tastes. Fortunately she has simple beer taste. A Yuengling clone is # 2 on the list.

Electric finished, half the drywall up.

Looked hard at the freezers...... but between getting one and the thermostat setup it was too much $$. They're flying off the shelf on Craigslist here.....

So, I got a Sears fridge, up/down, freezer down. This way you don't have the hump in the bottom of the fridge. Took out all the shelves and it will fit 6 cornies easily, pin or ball with plenty of head space for plumbing. Taps are going in the door, there's no risk of running into refrigerant lines in the door.

Craigslist, $50 out the door, no additional electronics required.

Oh, and the jockey box is for outdoors. We go to events where there's camping and garb and armor and beer.......

May do a hybrid if I can find the recipe. My desire is to brew Belgian style ales..... I'm still looking for a clone recipe for Goose Island's "Matilda".  For me, that is probably one of the best beers in the world...... Sierra Nevada's Pale Ale is helping me out in the mean time.

We (A friend who's been brewing for a while and a bunch of us lookers on/helpers) brewed a Sahti the other day, it was all grain.

Meanwhile, the framing is done and the electric roughed in. On to drywall.

OK, step 2. Build a room for the fridge. Garage off the kitchen, wife's been wanting a mud room for a while. Coats, shoes, paper towels and, the beer fridge. Perfect. Garage gets too cold in winter and too hot in summer.  Good news, beer fridge is allowed in mud room. I haven't mentioned the lagering fridge though..... :o
