Brewers -
Tuesday I went to YouTube.com and located all the qualifying AHA Big Brew 2010 videos I could find. If yours is not listed here, please let me know. I believe we're allowing the videos with a length of 3:01. We're taking the Relax.... Have a Homebrew approach!   ;)

Now it's your turn to vote for your favorite video! Let me explain how this works. Please view the videos posted below and pass along your favorite to your friends. Encourage them to view it and pass it along too. At 9am MT, on Friday, May 21st, I will go back to YouTube.com and collect the view counts. The video with the most views will win the AHA Big Brew 2010 - Most Watched Video award.

The following Monday, May 24th, I'll announce the winners of the Most Watched Video and Best Video awards on this Forum. The AHA Big Brew 2010 Best Video award is voted on by your AHA Governing Committee members. They're watching all the videos to determine which one they think best captures the essence and spirit of AHA Big Brew.

Hey all - thanks for giving me a day to get back to you.

There is an AHA membership offer for Big Brew. We've just started promoting it and it goes until May 21, 2010. Here are the details: http://www.beertown.org/email/aha/april/april.html

By using the promo code in our store, you can get a free copy of Scotch Ale by Greg Noonan, one of the style-series books from Brewers Publications. We also used a Noonan recipe as one of the Big Brew recipes this year. You can find all of those on the Homebrewopedia, http://wiki.homebrewersassociation.org/BigBrew2010

If you have any questions or need a pdf of the Big Brew membership form, just send me an email and let me know.

Cheers!

AHA Big Brew 2010 YouTube Contest
May 1 – May 10, 2010

AHA Big Brew: A Celebration of National Homebrew Day was created to bring homebrewers together around the world. This year the AHA will again sponsor a video contest for the event. Please record a video of your AHA Big Brew site, showing what you’re brewing, who you’re brewing with and of course, all the fun you’re having!

The AHA will awarded  two prize packages, one for the most watched video and one for the video that best captures the essence and teamwork of AHA Big Brew. Links to the winning AHA Big Brew 2010 videos will be posted to the AHA Big Brew homepage, on our Video section of www.HomebrewersAssociation.org and announced on the AHA Forum on May 24, 2010.

Contest Rules
Submitted videos must be 3 minutes or less in length to qualify for the contest. Contestants have until Monday, May 10, 2010 to upload their AHA Big Brew 2010 videos to www.YouTube.com. All titles should begin with "AHA Big Brew 2010" to ensure that they can be easily searched. Adding tag lines like "beer," "homebrew," and "homebrewing" will also help search functions. AHA Big Brew 2010 videos are judged by the AHA Governing Committee. Winners are determined at the sole discretion of the AHA Governing Committee.

You might try contacting the Maine Brewers Guild. I'm sure they have a lot of these answers.

You can join the AHA when you register your entries online. That's probably the easiest way to do it and take advantage of the membership discounts immediately.

Just go ahead and register your entries like normal. Skip the field where you enter an AHA number as you register for the site. After all your entries are added, go to Pay for Entries. Just before you're asked for payment information you'll be offered a chance to lower your entry fees by joining the AHA. It's all done automatically and you don't need to wait for your order to be processed by the AHA Member Services Team.

Here's the link to register your entries: http://www.brewingcompetition.com/NHC/nhc.php

If you have problems, email me directly: Kathryn@BrewersAssociation.org

Good Luck!

I am working on a number of leads right now to get a bunch more Rallies on the calendar. I can't give you the list until confirmed, but here are the ones that are pretty solid.

2.28 - Saint Arnold - TX
3.13 - Stone Brewing Co. - CA
Summer '10 - Seattle, WA
Summer '10 - Boston Beer, MA
11.6 - Maui Brewing Co. - HI

I'm certainly hoping to get a Rally in the North East this year. Other than the Boston Beer event, I can't divulge any other info. I'll keep this thread going as more events are secured! Feel free to contact me directly with any suggestions.  ;D

Cheers!

Homebrewer Bios / David Houseman
« on: November 06, 2009, 08:57:43 AM »
David Houseman - BUZZ, Chester Springs, PA

David Houseman began brewing in 1991.  The cross between the science of brewing and the creativity of cooking was alluring from the start.  He progressed from extract brewing on the kitchen stove, with numerous overflows - much to his wife's chagrin -- to all-grain brewing, taking over the garage, laundry room and numerous other locations around the house.

In 1993 he co-founded the BUZZ homebrew club.  In 1993 Dave became a BJCP (www.bjcp.org) judge and organized the first Buzz Off homebrew competition.  He is currently a BJCP Grand Master III judge, actively judging more than brewing at the moment.   Dave has brewed examples of all of the BJCP beer styles and number of the cider and mead styles, winning numerous awards in local, regional and national competitions.   Dave served as the Mid-Atlantic Representative of the BJCP and on the Governing Committee (ne Board of Advisors) of the AHA since 1996.  He is currently the BJCP Competition Director.

Dave is a contributing author of the Commercial Calibration column in Zymurgy, has written a number of articles and is a frequent contributor to AHA TechTalk.   He is a frequent speaker on beer, brewing, beer styles and food and beer pairing at beer festivals, beer dinners and wherever invited and the beer freely flows.

When not brewing or judging a homebrew competitions or the GABF, Dave spends time as a USSF and PIAA soccer referee, in his day job as Chief Operating Officer of Education Management Solutions (www.ems-works.com), or time with his family, wife Gloria, a math teacher, daughter Morgan in high school and son Matthew in middle school.   If it ferments, David has made it, including beer, mead, cider, wine and cheese.
