I'll be in Plano TX next week. What are some good local beers to try?

Peticolas Brewing Company is owned by a very close friend of mine and opened the first of this year. So far, he has released two beers, an Imperial Red Ale and a Scottish ale. I don't think he has started doing tours or tastings yet, but you can get his beer on tap around town (check the second link below for where it's on tap). I'd suggest the Imperial Red. The red that's on tap right now, I'm happy to say, I helped brew.

In Texas, breweries can finally advertise where their beers are sold.

Update. Peticolas just won the gold at the GABF for Traditional English Pale Ale for their "Royal Scandal." If you're in Dallas, check them out. I have some on tap at the house and really enjoy it.

I personally like The Gingerman (both Plano and Dallas have locations).
