No need. Yeast grow wild and have been here from the beginning long before us and have survived every disaster so far.

If all the yeast get killed we won't be around anyway.

Concetrate on something more useful like fermentation temps. JS>

Exactly.
Besides the fact that all the hype is a crock,   food would probably be a higher priority anyway.
Besides, where would we get our co2 tanks filled?  :P

Where are you getting your barley?  Or propane?  Or water, for that matter.  How do you keep your yeast viable without energy for refrigeration?

I'd be much mire concerned about preparing for battle in the thunderdome.

i think i'd much rather have already brewed beer stored away.

it will be an amazing item to have on hand once regular currency is totally devalued and a total bartering system is reinstated.  people will need beer.
cheers.

Narvin, in order:

Barley...I have acreage in an undisclosed location.

No propane...a natural gas well on site and worse case I'd use wood. I have plenty of it.

Water, from a spring just like Abita

Cooling...root cellar, nice and cool in the hottest of days.

Battle...no problem. I load my own ammo too.

Urban living would be tough though...
Beer...It isn't just for breakfast anymore.

Here's a business idea you can have, just include me in 5% of profits or something: take out a big loan, and lend people money to buy stuff for the '2012 apocalypse' with loan terms that don't come due until 2013. Profit.

Haha and people defaulting on their bank loans- then getting their bunker foreclosed on in 2013.
