In small amounts(4oz/10 gal), do these give a deep red color like Carafa II and Debittered Black or more brown like 450L chocolate?

The only one of these I've worked with (and love) is blackprinz malt. It's pretty awesome. I'd say it'd like debittered black, but smoother. I use it for all my stouts, porters, black IPAs, etc.

Midnight wheat gives color (no roast) while black prinz gives both.

I think in very small amounts any of the dark malts make red. I've been using midnight wheat. It does have some roastyness but less than carafa special II.

One might say....NONE MORE BLACK! It's my favorite dark malt.
