 That is  UNTRUE! There is a large, and growing, used brewery equipment market. Not to mention the used milk industry equipment that many people convert over for brewing.

I seems that many German/Austrian small brewery manufacturers are trying to beak into the growing US home brewing market. But what they are forgetting is that a German/Austrian brewpub may be willing to invest $45,000 but that a home brewer won't pay that. Especially if comparable systems are available for less than $10,000.

Speidel, maker of the Braumeister, is facing a similar challenge on the lower end. They are asking $2000 for their 5 gal model (http://www.homebrewing.com/equipment/speidel-braumeister-20L.php). For that price one can get a pretty decent 5 gal set-up with mashtun, pot, burner, pump and chiller.

Someone who previously lived in my house is on that mailing list. I get the catalog all the time. kind of fun to look through. I tried to talk my wife into letting me get the $40,000 1 person orka submarine but she said no 

looks like a single tier brew stand to me. you still have to mill the grain, mix it into the mash water and decide all your variables. That being said 45k is ridonkulous

I think at that price, whoever buys it is having someone else mill, mix etc.
