BJCP Tasting Exam Grading
« on: July 03, 2012, 08:51:04 AM »
Anyone have an idea on the turn-a-round time for grading the new format tasting exam?

I've been hearing it is faster. Assuming that is so the return should be faster. If I tell you 6 months you won't be disappointed when it takes less  ;D

It's been about a month so only five more to wait... That's better than nothing. Thanks.

I'm coming up on six months since I took the legacy exam (in Jan) so I figure that you might not see shortened turnaround times until the legacy exams clear the system.

The first exam given under the new format was closed in less than two months.

I would love for this to be a trend, but as of now it's a single data point.  Should know more within the next week or so.

Thanks Gordon!  I am excited/nervous to find out my results.  I think two, even three months is more than reasonable considering the grading is not straight forward.

Do you mean that the first written proficiency exam was turned around in less than two months?

No, the tasting exam.  Had several more just close as well.  There have been relatively few written exams given under the new system (which was one of our goals).  But the new tasting exams seem to be closing much faster than the older format exam.  We still have some of those open for 6+ months, including one from November.  That's unacceptable.

I received an email with an ID and password from the BJCP on Tuesday and  I took my exam on June 9th.  Very impressed!  Now I just have to wait for the next monthly website update.
