Sorry for you, euge. 
(My dad was also a WWII era over-achiever, died of lung cancer 22 years ago.  I still wish I could ask for his advice sometimes.  My wife and I are now fresh out of parents.)

Prayers and good thoughts your way. I know the type -- my dad was a merchant marine in WWII. Sorry for your loss, may the memories stay bright!
