Mosaic Hops?

Where can I buy the new Mosaic hops? I've looked around on-line and have yet to find anyone selling them.

You are unlikely to find them for a while. According to a presentation given at Perrault Farms during the NHC preconference tour, there won't be enough in the pipeline for any to reach homebrewers until 2014 at the very earliest, and more likely not until 2015.

I got some last year at a brewery that had used those for brewing trials, these were leftovers sold at the brewery homebrew shop. X-369 was the name then. They are very resiny, some say they have some blueberry, and are like Simcoe without the cat pee.

Good catch erockrph! I'm really looking forward to using these hops after tasting Bell's "It Goes To 11".

12oz minimum purchase - That's going to be one hell of an IPA!

Any idea if this years crop was large enough for some to be pelletized? I've never used whole hops before but if they're not going to go pellets for a while, I guess this'll be my chance to break into whole hops.

They were pelletized last year (2011) as well as this year

What recipe types are you guys going for? I mean, besides the obvious IPA.

There was a beer I had at the NHC, brewed by Tom Schmidlin, that used Mosaic. Really liked it.

Beer is the Rusian River "Hop 2 It" that Vinnie Cilurzo uses to test new hops.

Note these are single hop beers done with 4 different hops.  For this recipe, target 37 IBU total.  The late additions were all kept the same to show the relative flavors and aromas of the different hops in each batch, so only the bittering addition was changed for each to match the target bitterness.
