Wow, I really let this thread go a long time without posting updates! Well, here goes...
Bauhaus Brew Labs is almost 100% funded and is about to pull the trigger. There have been some pretty major changes to our business model since I first conceived of it. First, we're not going to contract brew. We will be a 30bbl production brewery with a taproom located in NE Mpls, the unofficial "brew district" of Minneapolis. We have identified our brewery site and hope to be signing a lease in a few weeks.
Second, we'll be packaging in 1/2bbl and 1/6bbl kegs, as well as 12oz cans for our flagship beers. The flagships will include Pils, Steam Beer, Schwarzbier and IPA, all of which will be somewhat non-traditional (especially the lagers), particularly with respect to the hop profiles. We want to put our spin on iconic lager styles -- neither rigidly traditional nor extreme.
Finally, as for logo/design concepts, we are incredibly fortunate to have partnered with the inimitable Helms Workshop in Austin, TX to create a comprehensive brand identity package that will include our logo, packaging system design, taproom environment, exterior signage, taphandles, etc. My team and I are actually flying down to Austin over Labor Day weekend to kick off the campaign.
I'll try to get better about updating our progress if people are interested. I've been a fundraising hermit for the past six months though, and I think my work is only really beginning.
We haven't made any formal announcements in the Twin Cities about the brewery opening. We really want to wait until we have all the pieces in place.
