What's Brewing This Weekend - 2/11 Edition
« on: February 09, 2011, 10:23:02 am »
Dun dun dun... will Denny brew something after testifying?

Will the Oregon State Legislature be so freaked out by red converse sneakers and puka shells that they figure the man must be a mental patient and ordered seized for his own safety?

Stay tuned and find out in this week's edition of "What's Brewing!"

Hopefully brewing the pale ale that never was brewed last week... because I was sick.  If I don't do it this week, then I'll have to wait until March.
Bottled: Summer Breeze Pale Ale, Barrett's Irish Red Ale, Apprentice Amber, Hefeweizen
Fermenting: Nada
On Deck: Something with Apricots, Hoppy Blonde with WL1007.

A whole lotta nuttin' this weekend.  But I think I am going to an alt next, if the LHBS has the yeast I need for it.

Well if the temps get a little higher outside I'm going to cold crash the stout I made just before I went into the hospital... providing my nephew will move it outside for me.   ;)

Working on what to brew for the following weekend (if doc says I can lift some stuff yet)... not sure what though.   :-\  Can't wait to at least try the stout ...

No brewing for probably the next four weekends.  Lots of beer judging though with Best Florida Beer Championships homebrew competition beginning Saturday.

Finally going to brew the Tangelo Wheat I've been planning on doing for the last month. I've put a couple other batches in front of it and now it is time to brew it! The tangelos are at their peak of ripeness, still hanging on the tree and just waiting to be picked!  I'll brew this weekend and then add the tangelo juice next weekend after fermentation stops. Looking forward to drinking this one as the heat rises here in the desert!

Any tips on adding fruit juice to secondary? there was an article in Zymurgy last year that said to add 4-8 oz of juice per gallon. Seems like a pretty big spread. I want the tangelo flavor to be pretty evident but not overwhelming. I'm trying to get close to Lost Coast's Tangerine Wheat.

Also have to keg an IPA and start drinking a cider. Its hard work....but I got it. :)

Nothing this weekend.  Bottling up a batch of CAP, kicking off a starter for next weekend, and hopefully the latest batch of the strong golden ale will be ready for some in depth sampling.

Hopefully brewing a double batch on Sunday. ESB and a Schwarzbier. If not this weekend, then next. My daughter's spring softball just started, and Saturday practices will put a crimp in my brewing schedule. Worth every minute, though!

Should be bottling up the dubbel that's been cold conditioning.  If I get really ambitious, I might even bottle up an oatmeal stout too.
