Storing Crushed Grains
hillbillybrewer:
How long can you store crushed grains without ill effects? I have 3# of specialty grains each in separate bags that are gonna have to hold off for at least a month. I don't have a vacuum sealer. Will they be OK? TIA and Merry Christmas everyone!
a10t2:
A month is no big deal. If you can put them in a freezer that would be best.

Really? Isn't there a concern for condensation when you take it out?

Hmm... maybe? My thinking on that has always been that anything I'm not using is only outside the freezer for a few minutes, and anything I'm going to brew with is going to get wet anyway. Subjectively, I've never seen ice crystals on my frozen grains or anything.

I've never tried freezing, so that's why I asked. I just keep 'em in a tightly sealed paper bag inside a plastic bag in a cool room.
