The American Homebrewers Association (AHA) is looking for a few good homebrewers!
In advance of next spring's AHA Governing Committee elections, the AHA is looking for potential candidates. Of the fifteen seats, six are up for election in 2011.
The AHA Governing Committee plays a significant role in shaping the present and future direction of the AHA. The AHA continues to face challenges and opportunities. To make the most of those challenges and opportunities, the AHA depends on members to step forward and serve on the Governing Committee. Serving on the Governing Committee is fun and rewarding.
The commitment involves attending the annual Governing Committee meeting at the AHA National Homebrewers Conference, taking part in monthy Governing Committee conference calls, regular email communications, and potentially some subcommittee work. This is your AHA. The association needs you to take charge and get involved.
Besides great ideas and boundless enthusiasm, candidates should have had some experience in organizations at the local or regional level. Initiative, perseverance, and creativity are welcome. The AHA Governing Committee acts both as a sounding board and a management consultant team for the AHA. Additionally, committee work provides structure, content and feet on the ground support in the case of National Homebrewers Conferences.
You may nominate yourself or someone else (please check first to see if he/she is available and interested). Candidates should submit a short written statement of no more than 500 words, which should explain your qualifications for a position on the Governing Committee (experience, abilities, constituency, etc) and what your vision is for the future of the AHA. Please include your contact information and send it all to AHA Governing Committee Secretary Roxanne Westendorf no later than December 1st, 2010.
