Results from the Homebrewers Association Club-Only Competitions as well as the current homebrew club points for the August 2012-May 2013 competition year are shown below. The winners of the Club-Only competition earn points for their homebrew club on a 12-8-4 basis for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.  Club points from the Club-Only Competition go toward the point total for the AHA Homebrew Club of the Year award (see National Homebrew Competition).

Extract Beers (May 18, 2013)

The AHA thanks Stan Backlund and the Hangtown Association of Zymurgy Enthusiasts (HAZE) club of Placerville, CA, for hosting the Extract Beers Club-Only Competition held May 18, 2013. This competition covered beer categories 1-23 of the 2008 BJCP Style Guidelines. This was the sixth of six competitions in the August to May 2012-2013 cycle, with points going toward the Homebrew Club of the Year trophy. Points are awarded on a twelve-eight-four basis for first, second, and third place in the Club-Only Competitions. First, second, and third places in both the First and Final Round of the AHA National Homebrew Competition earn points on a six-four-two basis.

Of the 71 entries submitted by AHA homebrew clubs in 31 States plus Washington, DC, and Puerto Rico, the following winners were chosen.

Barleywine Ales (March 9, 2013)

The AHA thanks Drew Boxrud and the Primary Fermenters Brewers & Vintners club of Saint Paul, MN, for hosting the Barleywine Ales Club-Only Competition held March 9, 2013. This competition covered categories 19B & 19C of the 2008 BJCP Style Guidelines. This was the fifth of six competitions in the August to May 2012-2013 cycle, with points going toward the Homebrew Club of the Year trophy.

Of the 52 entries submitted by AHA homebrew clubs in 25 States, the following winners were chosen.

Un-Session Beers (OG>1.040) (January 19, 2013)

The AHA thanks Frank Barickman and Scioto Olentangy and Darby Zymurgists (SODZ) of Delaware, OH for hosting the Un-Session Beers (OG>1.040) Club-Only Competition held January 19, 2013. This competition covered categories 1C-E, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6A, 6C, 7, 8C, 9D & E, 10, 12B & C, 13B-F, 14, 15, 16, 17B, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, and 23 of the 2008 BJCP Style Guidelines. This was the fourth of six competitions in the August to May 2012-2013 cycle, with points going toward the Homebrew Club of the Year trophy.

Of the 73 entries submitted by AHA homebrew clubs in 28 States, the following winners were chosen.

Ant Hayes Memorial Burton (Old) Ale Competition (November 17, 2012)

The AHA thanks Chris Frey and the Ann Arbor Brewers Guild of Ann Arbor, MI for hosting the Ant Hayes Memorial Burton (Old) Ale Club-Only Competition held November 17, 2012. This competition covered category 19A of the 2008 BJCP Style Guidelines. This was the third of six competitions in the August to May 2012-2013 cycle, with points going toward the Homebrew Club of the Year trophy.

Of the 42 entries submitted by AHA homebrew clubs in 22 States, the following winners were chosen.

Light Hybrid Beers Competition (October 13, 2012)

The AHA thanks Augie Altenbaumer and the St. Louis Brews of St. Louis, MO for hosting the Light Hybrid Beers Club-Only Competition held October 13, 2012. This competition covered category 6 of the 2008 BJCP Style Guidelines. This was the second of six competitions in the August to May 2012-2013 cycle, with points going toward the Homebrew Club of the Year trophy.

Of the 90 entries submitted by AHA homebrew clubs in 33 States, the following winners were chosen.

The AHA thanks Steve Dockter and the Snake River Brewers of Nampa, ID for hosting "The Working Man's Ale" (Porter) Club-Only Competition held August 18, 2012. This competition covered category 12 of the 2008 BJCP Style Guidelines. This was the first of six competitions in the August to May 2012-2013 cycle, with points going toward the Homebrew Club of the Year trophy.

Of the 91 entries submitted by AHA homebrew clubs in 37 States, the following winners were chosen.

Congratulations to The Brewing Network club winning the AHA Club of the Year award for the second year in a row!  Here are the point totals for the top 25 clubs in the 2011-2012 competition year.  AHA clubs earn points for placing 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in each of the six Club-Only Competitions (COC); placing 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the First Round of the National Homebrew Competition (NHC); and placing 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the Final Round of the NHC.
