Sorry...I should have put a few of these  ::) ::) ;) ::) ;) in.  ;)

Most sports writers in Boston and New York have the Sox and Yankees finishing 4th and 5th in the division (some homers are picking 3rd).  It's going to be a battle for the basement.

Honestly...no one in Red Sox Nation say this coming, but what a great season...so far!!!  They have definitely have been fun to watch this year.

As a Royals fan it seems the Pirates have had company in their ineptitude.  3 back with ten to go- May need some help to get in

Not a fan of the DH but I do like my Royals(and that has been severely tested during the past 25 years).  Quick question - how did Ned Yost manage in the NL as long as he did?  I can't imagine how goofy his double switches would have been given some of his decisions in the AL.

Awesome!!  My father's Red Sox! (he was 17 at the time).  Unfortunately he passed away before seeing them win in 2004.

I do not expect a repeat of the '46 series!  GO SOX!!

SOX were the better team but I'd like to have seen Miggy at 100% and Prince hitting the ball.... at all. Dude was ridiculously bad. Totally threw away 2 gems by Sherzer and Verlander.

I've lived in LA now for 17+ years and of course I have friends who are big Dodgers fans. Over the years they've tried to convert me. I stalwartly refuse. Then they tried the tactic of "well, ok, but the Dodgers can be your NL team. C'mon you live here". I had to explain that no.. my NL team was the Cubs for precisely that same reason - I've lived that pain.

Yesterday, NPR was talking about the game and how there were so many textbook situations that had the Cardinals stumped. Their quote - "The Cardinals thwarted more textbooks then Tennessee during the Scopes Trial."

eamus catuli! Yeah, I am a lifelong cubs fan. When I used to work outside, and had to drive around all day, nothing beat listening to Pat Hughes and Santo. This conversation has got me singing "Dying Cubs Fan's Last Request"

Told his friends "You know the law of averages says:
Anything will happen that can"
That's what it says
"But the last time the Cubs won a National League pennant
Was the year we dropped the bomb on Japan"
The Cubs made me a criminal
Sent me down a wayward path
They stole my youth from me
(that's the truth)
I'd forsake my teachers
To go sit in the bleachers
In flagrant truancy

Joe Buck is ok with baseball because it is a game of minutiae. He is in love with the sound of his own voice and can talk for hours without taking a breath.

Joe Buck is absolute torture when he calls a football game. He bloviates about everything except what's happening on the field.  He wants everyone to know he has the biggest brain in the universe.   When he calls a football game I want to watch I turn the sound off.

"Personal foul, #18 defense, tripping, 30 yard penalty."

WS G3 - winning point scored by the defense!  How often does THAT happen in baseball?  Much less the World Series?

Joe Buck is ok with baseball because it is a game of minutiae.

The only reason I like listening to Joe Buck is because he occasionally reminds me of Jack Buck. Case in point: 2011 World Series, Game 6: David Freese hits a game-winning walk off homer, Joe Buck echos his father from nearly the exact same call 20 years earlier, "And we will see you tomorrow night!"

I seriously teared up that night and still get goosebumps just thinking about it.

Otherwise, he's calling Daniel Descalso by the name of Pete Kozma or calling the pitch count as 1-1 or 2-1 when it's 2-0 or 3-0. Ugh.

McCarver was trying to explain something at the beginning of the game and I thought he was having a stroke.  I was waiting for Buck to cut him off.

Also, is it just me because the Sox are playing and I'm paying more attention, but do the umps know what the strike zone is supposed to be.  I've seen bad strike calls on both teams ( and I'm not talking about the stupid sFox Strike Zone grid ).

A couple of containers of empty bottles showed up late at the water plant last night, so I had to listen to the game on the radio while unloading them.  At first I was pissed about not being able to watch the game.  Then I realized how much more enjoyable it was to follow the game without the Buck/McCarver blather.   Dan Shulman and Orel Hershiser call a much better game.

Note to self:  Watch TV with sound off and radio on.

I was doing this when the NLDS and NLCS were on TBS. TV muted, KMOX streaming through my MLB.tv connected phone.

I simply couldn't stand one more minute of the TBS guys rambling on and on and on about the shady spot between the pitcher and batter. A half hour talking about the shade?? C'mon!

I caught the Red Sox radio announcers on SiriusXM one night of the World Series - I really like their announcing. Good stuff.

:), I like to do this watching Bronco games.
BUT, the TV always lags in time about 15 seconds.
So you get to hear on the radio what is going to happen, and then you get to watch it unfold.

I guess baseball is different?

Enjoy the game. 8)

As good as Papi was, pitching wins championships. That's why I wouldn't be surprised to see a rematch next year. There was some great pitching on both sides this series. Sox were just able to string their hits together when it counted. And Uehara was un-freaking-believable. Papi was undoubtedly the World Series MVP, but if they gave one for the whole postseason, Koji deserves it.
