Hi, Long time reader - first post. Just wondering who all plans on going to the Conference in Minneapolis and how excited are you getting. It is only 2 weeks away!!! I can' t wait to see everyone, get reacquainted with old friends and meet some new ones.
Cheers,
Susan

The wife and I are going, are excited, have one beer in the second round, and will see many people that we have gotten to know over the last several years. Our club is working on the club night theme and we will do a shift at the hospitality suite. Looking forward to the presentations. What am I forgetting? Beer will be sampled in large quantities!
-
I'll be there. It will be nice to meet everyone from the forums and put a real face to the names.
Maybe I should apologize for my behavior now! ::) ::) ::)
-
Sadly I can't make it as I'll be on another continent :(
I do have two ciders in the second round, so I'll be hoping that my name comes up in the award ceremony, which I'll have to watch on the internet in the middle of the night...

First post on this forum for me, although I've been trying to keep up with reading on a daily basis. (I think some of you may have too much time on your hands....)
I'm really looking forward to the conference in less than two weeks. This will be my 10th and I've made a lot of good friends there over the years. See you at the hospitality room!

Awesome! Be sure to post pics and schematics for those that can only be there in spirt.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it this year :(
....but I am planning to attend next year.

I'll be there too.

I wish I could make it this year. Hopefully next year!

I wish you could make it, too, Keith, but I'll buy ya a beer next year!
-
Can't make it (again) this year.
-
I'll be there, plus I'm pouring beer with my club (Rochester Area Zymurgy Enthusiasts) at club night and a shift in the hospitality suite. Denny, I'll have your base beer from the BVIP aged on oak cubes for a few months on hand.

I'm siting here 3 1/2 hours into a 6 hour Governing Committee meeting. Nary a beer yet. Whooppee....

Wow...sounds like fun! :D

Thanks for stepping up to do what the rest of us don't want to do!

In one way I'm glad the meeting is a sober one but I'm sure there will be plenty to be had after the meetings. 8)
Hopefully you'll be staying right at the hotel...that way you can crawl back to the room. ;D

More than plenty later! And staying in the conference hotel is definitely the way to go.
-
I'll be leaving for the airport soon. See you at the hotel.

wasn't there myself, but Boulder graciously send me pics and texts there, all evening. I squealed like a little girl when he sent me a pic of Denny. Not sure if Denny really did say to tell me hi or not, but either way, it made my weekend!! :D

Whaddya mean say to tell ya hi...I laboriously typed out that text with my fat fingers! 9 words took me 5 minutes!
-
I thought that Boulder mis-spelled more than usual, and here I just thought it was the beer! ;D

Sigh...just catching up with this thread and realizing that Denny was really focused during the meeting ;)
Yes, it was deliberate that I had a no drink policy until we were over half way through. Denny and the rest of the AHA GC take their duties seriously, and after 5-6 years of attending (and now moderating and leading) these meeting, it is clear that we need to start with sobriety and deal with some issues first before we move on and have some beer.
It has been an interesting balance, trying to keep the GC focused, yet allow for some fun and antics. The GC is made up of very bright, passionate and caring people who devote their time freely to support the AHA. On the one hand, one member said the meeting was far too long while another said that we didn't have enough time to really finsih what we started.
Fortunatly, we have our emails and monthly conference calls, and we focused on what was really necessary during ourone face-toace meeting.
BTW, I am proud to say that the Flanders Red I served both during the AHA GC meeting and then later floated it in my room was one of my best efforts. You have to bring your "A" game when you are serving to this group, and the response was, shall I say, gratifying.
