I'll be there....Tues - Sun.

Haven't been to Portland since the late '90's when I though Rock Bottom had the best beer around.

I'll be there. Didn't see any pre-conference events yet. Thinking I might start my own, drinking with Mike. ;)

I'd love to meet everybody one day.  But sorry, not this year.  Wife's got me on a pretty short leash.  If I beg really hard, and the Con comes close to home again, someday I'll make it.

I am flying in Wednesday and Miss Ellen arrives Sunday afternoon.  We switch from the conference hotel to the Kennedy School for a few days afterwards.  I love that part of the country.

Flying in Wednesday afternoon and flying out Sunday morning.

I hope we can have a meet-up like we did in Baltimore (last HBC I went to).

We fly out on the 22nd. Eugene, McMinville, Astoria. Portland for the conference. Then Hood River, fly back on the 5th.

We like that part of the country too.

It is on my radar! Susan has us booked into the Hotel Oregon, never stayed at one of their hotels, but have had the beer.

I'll be there at least for the conference and hopefully a few days before/after since I have friends in the area and have never been. Waiting out the spring breakers to see my disposable income and therefore how long a trip I can book.

There are some pre-conference tours that are being organized by Brewvana. You should have received a link to book one in your confirmation email. They will be listed on that 'week events' page next week. That page fills up with events submitted by any brewery/business around town. I know that there is a lot planned, but getting folks to register their event on that page is surprisingly tricky! Thanks for the heads up.

Here's a link to the pre-conference tours: https://www.brewvana.com/homebrew

We ate breakfast there once.  I think that hotel claims some haunted theme or space aliens or something.  I like everything about McMenamins with the possible exception of their core beer selection.

Any recommendations for a hotel or an area to stay?
I noticed that several of the "official" hotels are on the other side of the river in the Pearl district.  Is it easy to get to the Convention Center  from there?
Better restaurants or beer venues on one side vs the other?

Hey Mac! I can’t recommend one, no experience with those.

The light rail and streetcars run from the Pearl or Downtown by the convention center. Years back we stayed in a small hotel out by the Nob Hill area, and it had streetcar passes for the asking. Ask them how long it takes if useing the rail system, or the buses.

There are good restaurants all over Portland. My take is that the bigger breweries here places on the west side of the river, many of the small places are on the East side. On our last two trips we spent more time East of the river.

My wife and I are attending from Davis CA.  First time to the convention.  Staying in a nice AirBnB we found real close- just north of the Convention Center.  Hope to meet lots of brewers.

I could start a new thread, but anyone know the airport transfer key? It seems every time I head somewhere later I find there was an excellent public transportation route I could have utilized.

Airport transfer key? I'm not sure what you mean. The light rail goes directly from the airport and past the convention center and into downtown. I have no plans to rent a vehicle while I'm there.

This should be helpful. We have used the light rail to downtown 3 times at least.

This map shows the stops, and also shows the streetcars. If staying in the Pearl or NW Portland the streetcars get close to the convention center.

Edit - we will have a car before the conf. Then turn it in. After the conference. We will get a car. Will probabaly take the light rail to and from the airport for the car.

Here is a trip planner.  Not sure what an airport transfer key is.

Surely they have Uber. My friends and I wore it out last year in Minneapolis.

Max goes to PDX

I suggest studying the Max web site. It goes everywhere. You can even get to Hood River with Grey Hound connections. You don't need a car in Portland, or surrounding villes

We have used Max, the Street Cars, Buses, and walking to get around Portland. Haven’t been there since we started using Uber and Lyft. Some breweries may be too far off the public transportation, Occidental comes to mind, so that ride sharing might be the way to go.

My cousin is an Uber driver in Portland, so yes.

This is a promo video for the American Distilling Institute's Conference in Portland...  Not much about ADI, so I post it because it's a nice intro to Portland.

I'll be there Tuesday - Sunday. Since there won't be a Soper Tour this year, I hopefully won't sleep through judging on Thursday.

I believe some airports don't allow rideshare (from what I've heard, don't quote me) but PDX allows all kinds, Uber, Lyft and several others I've never heard of.  Also, taxis, shuttle buses and as mentioned the Red Line Max.    The red line has a stop directly at the convention center.

For those not from here, Trimet is $2.50 for a 4 hour (I think?) ticket or 5 dollars for all day.  Worth the all day.  Buses run pretty late (some lines as late as 2AM I think) and they just extended Max service.  Last red line leave downtown and heads towards the airport around 11:30PM and last train leaves the airport sometime after midnight, 12:25ish AM.

I'm registered. I'll be there for a week (26 June - 3 July). I've been to Portland, OR. eight times since 1993 [This is the 25th Anniversary of the Chicago Beer Society's "Crazy Train" from Chicago to Portland.]. Last there in August 2014.
I am seeking a hotel room roommate. (https://www.homebrewersassociation.org/forum/index.php?topic=31651.msg410027#msg410027) :)
