I've been using Fourquare because my son thinks it's cool to check in to places and become mayor. I'm curious what everyone uses, if one is better than the other, or if you even care.

This poll needs a "Whatchoo talkin' bout, Willis?" option.
-
I don't really want people to know where I am.

yeah - I honestly have no idea what you are talking about?
-
Some people say that forums are part of "social networking".
Boy I hate that name.

I'm right here. ;D

Myspace! hahahaha

This is the only poll, so far, that has No Pants in the selection and it's the most logical choice.
-
Hmm......I actually lead people to believe I'm somewhere that I'm not. I'm an independent consultant that mostly works from home............... or a campsite, or the beach, or relatives' houses in the midwest or wherever. They don't need to know where I am, just that their work gets done. Maybe I need a "Foursquare" thingy (whatever that is) that tells my clients I'm at my office working away all the time ;)

Ah, so you're a pointing man, are you? Sometimes the old-fashioned ways are just better.

I just carry around a sign that says this so that when people see me they know where I am.
-
Why would I want people to know where I am? If they want to know they can ask.
-
As long as my wife knows where I am, I'm good.

Me too. ;)

That's sort of how I feel about it. If I'm going out, presumably I've already made plans. And if someone wants to meet up with me on short notice, they can call me, send a text, Facebook message, FB chat, AIM, Gchat, or email.
My understanding is that most people who use these things heavily are actually playing them as a game - as you check in more places, you accumulate points and... win at having a social life? I'm not sure what the objective actually is.

In my case it's just they can call me, send a text, Facebook message, FB chat, AIM, Gchat, or email, but that seems weird. I guess I don't understand the whole points thing, but then I don't really need to. :)

I can tell you one thing I don't do and that's Twitter where ever I go. I don't consider myself important enough for people to really give a sheet where I'm at.
-
Best and most legitimate use of Twitter I've ever seen is where people have automated systems that tweet statuses. Like, for example, the guy that rigged up a kegerator to tweet every time the tap was pulled with the date, time, amount dispensed, and amount remaining.
Twitter is best used by machines. People aren't nearly that important.

that is really, really cool. except for if I did that, telling my wife I only had "one glass" tonight wouldn't work anymore. but it would be helpful to keep track of how much my sponges, i mean friends, drink on the weekends during football season.
-
I only have "one glass" every night. If she doesn't ask how many times you filled it, you don't have to lie. ;)

Or how big the glass is

I take photos with my cell phone...then add the text....
"where in the world is waldo?" then sent it in a pic/text msg...let them figger it out

Just started this gps checkin thing. The one I have really enjoyed is a personal one. It lets me take a pic and
shows me where I was. Neat to track especially since I am using pics of landmarks. It's a perspective thing. I have always seen myself in the "metro area" but not down to the cross streets. I like it. I have tried to share but the phone
still to complicated.

I think this is one of those internet things I don't understand.
