Title: Poll: Keezer/kegerator temperature settings
Post by: kerneldustjacket on January 17, 2011, 11:35:07 PM
So what temperature do you prefer to keep you keezer/kegerator set at?

Can you give your reasons for selecting your preferred temperature?

I mostly do ales, so I selected a temperature (48-49 or so) that to me fits best with ale flavors/aromas...mostly based on what I've seen posted for "correct" serving temperatures.
I carbonate most of my ales to 2.3 to 2.6 volumes...more in line with American styles.

IIRC the factory default on mine is 41-45

Set to "min" which works out to be around 41-43º......at the low end of CO2 volume.

Where I live beer warms up pretty fast most of the year.  If I set it at perfect drinking temp(40-45F) I have to swill it before it gets very warm.
Plus my wife like her beer cold and nothing I say or do will change that.  It's a very small sacrifice to let my beer sit for a minute or 2 before I start drinking it if the wife stays happy.

42 for me.  I'm another one who keeps it colder to satisfy my wife. Otherwise I'd probably be in the upper 40's.

44°F for me, although depending on the weather it can get a good deal cooler.

Mine is set at 40F right now, which is too cold for most beers in my preference.  48-50F is more my preferred range, probably a bit high for most, but that's where I find most ales' sweet spot.

Mine's at 40 F but I think it is actually lower than that since it is in my garage and it was 3 F last night.  I'm acutally getting new garage doors put on this week ( R14 rated ) so hopefully I won't have to move the kegerator into the basement for the winter months.

I also noticed that when it gets coldd, the silicone sealer that I used on my collar does not stick any more, so the collar slides around.

Mine keezer is at 45-48F so I can brew lagers while I'm drinking ales.

Now that's what I call being pragmatic!

I try to keep mine at 40 - 41F. why? Because Mythbusters told me that was the best temp for beer.  ;)

I don't have mine set up yet but I'm thinking of lower temperatures so I can lager in the same freezer.  It'll be a little on the cold side for serving but I can always let the pints warm a bit before drinking.

I keep mine at 40.  I like to serve a little cooler and then allow the beer to warm as I'm drinking it.
