Went to restock on Chinook and they are out of leaf and limiting pellets to one lb. per order. >:(

Don't wanna cause a panick or anything but there is another hop shortage this year. not as bad, but bad enough. Lots of hops I can't get (and need!)
-
Yeah, the favorites ot the moment are sold out.
You can always get Cluster and Willamette! I bought a pound of each this year.

Now that I go back and look, the fav leafs are gone and pellet is being limited. I stocked up right after harvest and ended up going through a little more Chinook than I thought I would. Still well stocked on my regulars. I should be able to make it till harvest '11. <fingers crossed>

Fortunately I've already made my bulk purchase that will last for a while. Let's hope it doesn't stay this way. Damn it! We don't need another hop shortage! What gives!

Not enough acres of the new high demand hops were planted. You can find some of them here.
Ones like Citra, Chinook, Simcoe, Centennial are under 500 acres.

That's too bad, I think Simcoe and Chinook are my favorites.

Craft brewing on the rise, hop acreage going down? What does Jesse Ventura think about all this? ;)
-
The acres going down has a lag to the price.

No more Simcoe pellets at the store.....
Sitting on almost 3 pounds of Cascade, a pound of Columbus, and near pounds of Saaz and Styrian.... I will survive.
