Title: AAARGH!
Post by: oscarvan on April 12, 2011, 01:06:31 AM
Everything was perfect.....and then something happened. Not sure what, too many things changed at the same time. Put a keg on the system, which was carbonated at 55º/18PSI (separate bottle/regulator)..... Also tweaked the serving pressure up a hair......

Anyway, the whole system went nuts..... foam city. All four kegs. Got them all disconnected and trying to calm them down. Lots of test pouring.....HIC!.....

I don't trust these regulators......

Never a dull moment in this business......

Are the regulators warm or cold?

Warm.... outside the fridge, where they've always been. Just put a pressure gauge on the foaming German ale..... 10psi.... this is maddening. That keg has been PERFECT for the last two weeks.... ??? ??? ???

Did you put a new (warmer) keg in? That might have caused a temp rise in the fridge and the foaming.

What is your kegging process from start to finish...after you rack the beer into the keg. It might help to know your SOP. I presume all of your kegs are reacting the same. right?

Things are stabilizing. Indeed I put a warm keg in. (55º) Said keg had been carbonating for a week at 18psi, which at 55º should have brought it in line with the kegs in the keggertor which are at 10psi/44º I suspect the regulator that did the 18 psi.....
