Title: May/June Issue, already?!
Post by: colinhayes on April 27, 2011, 06:40:36 PM
Did this issue catch anyone else off guard?  I could have sworn I had another month to go before it showed up.

Yes. I was a little surprised to see this issue in the mail yesterday but it was a pleasant surprise.  :)

Zymurgy typically mails around the 17th of the month prior to the date on the magazine cover, so the July/August issue will mail around June 17th.

Got mine yesterday. Time to finish the last issue I guess. I blame Gordon's book on my reading backlog.  ;)

Who's the lucky one that has to stay behind for NHC and get Zymurgy mail out?  >:(

I just joined in March and haven't received this issue yet.  I keep checking everyday hoping it will be there.  Maybe in the next week hopefully.

Mine always comes pretty late in the cycle and I've yet to see the new issue also.  I know it's hard, but just be patient.

Mine came late last week.
Nice article on yeast pitching rates by a10t2.
I really liked the Last Drop this issue, about no ingredients in beer.

I didn't know I had it yet, so I told SWMBO that I must have been taken off the "special" list and she proceeds to say, "no it's over there on my desk, it came in last week. I was reading the spent grain article so I can make dog biscuits out of it for Stella(grand daughters dog in Vegas)  :-\

No TAP, there's an unseen edict in one of the AHA's directives that makes sure the first issue that is sent out goes to me.  ;D

Haven't seen mine yet, but that's nothing new.

@theantipunk, I don't really know but I doubt the printer is in Boulder.  Maybe it's listed in the masthead?  I don't have an issue handy.

Actually, our printer is located in Michigan, so that's where the issue mails from. It mailed from there on Saturday April 23 (a few days late due to a mechanical problem), so those of you who don't have it yet should be getting it very soon!

FWIW I haven't received mine yet either, but that's not unusual.  It usually shows up here in the middle of the issue's date, so that will be the end of March May.  I figure someone walks it from Boulder Michigan to SF, then someone paddles it in their canoe to Honolulu, where it is mailed and flown to my PO box in Hilo.  Should be arriving any week now.

It's Denny.  As my daughter said to me one day "what has been seen cannot be unseen".   ;D

This is twice in a row though.  It really makes me wonder, I know my membership doesn't run out for a couple of years.

Hey Jeff,

Thanks for pointing out the Last Drop article; I hadn't read it yet, and it was a fun read.  Thanks!

Hi Pesky,

I'm sorry to hear you have had problems receiving the magazine.  In February the AHA switched over to a new database, and some members have experienced problems like yours.  Whenever this happens, please contact AHA Member Services (info@brewersassociation.org or 1-888-822-6273 x0, and they will be able to help you with your problem.

I forwarded your problem to Member Services this morning, and they will help you get your missing back issues and get back on track for regular delivery.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

Cheers,
   Janis

I also seem to have fallen foul of a problem in February. I renewed my membership, got a confirmation that I had done so, but am now told that my card got declined (which is odd). I wasn't told about this, and the order confirmation led me to believe all was fine. I'm somewhat irritated as I had renewed with a discount, which is no longer valid, and if I want to get the back issue of Zymurgy (which I do) it will cost a not insignificant amount of money in postal charges ($15.00).

I'm more than happy to pay the membership fee, but I really feel like I've missed out.
