Title: beer cases
Post by: witchbrew on April 30, 2011, 03:48:33 pm
Does anyone have a good lead on empty beer cases? I don't want to keep putting my beer in the empty twelve packs from my bottle supply.

Most of the bottle shops around here have stacks of those boxes at the front of the store.  Whenever I'm in there, I buy a six-pack or two and, when they go to put them in a bag, just say "how 'bout a box".  You could probably just ask them for some anyways as they probably have more of them than they know what to do with.

Another option, is copier paper boxes from work - there always seems to tons of them being discarded.  Four six-pack holders fit easily in those and they're plenty sturdy.

shouldn't be hard to get as many case boxes as you need. every year when our club holds our competition, we ask one of the local beer stores to save cases and six pack holders (left from the singles they sell) for us. they're always happy to do it. they just throw them away otherwise.

Yep, and I find wine cases are the perfect size for bombers.

I've been getting e-mails lately from these guys

They look like pretty sturdy boxes, which would last quite a long time.  The only thing keeping me from taking the jump is the cost.

They look killer.  Sturdy and completely waterproof.  Someday when I have extra money that isn't being spent on beer ingredients or beer equipment, maybe I'll buy some beer boxes.

+1 Those look easy to make. Maybe make them deeper so that there's less light getting to the bottles.

Ask at grocery stores, drug stores, liquor/beer stores, anyplace that sells beer. At most retail establishments the case boxes just go into the recycling bin.

Also, while more places are compressing and baling their cardboard waste, there are still enough businesses that are just throwing their cardboard boxes into the dumpster out back. A bit of dumpster diving might rewarding.
