OK so what is a harvest ale? Every fall I see this brewery or that brewery has a "harvest ale" out. They are usually something like an American amber - copper/red in color and kind of hoppy with some biscuit or toasty component. Is this a just marketing term? Something to compete with the O'fest offerings from other breweries?

Usually they are beers that have freshly harvested hops in them. Never processed. Just picked and thrown in the brew! Yummy! I usually pick up Sierra Nevada's version, but now that I make my own version I skip the commercial ones!

Just another style for fall. Fall beers are the best, followed closely by Winter beers. Goose Island Harvest Ale is a mighty fine beer.
