Prefect water chemistry and start playing with yeast culturing and yeast management.

Mine's the opposite. Figured out the yeast culturing and management stuff in '09, now starting in on water chemistry for '10

Building a Brutus 10 brewstand...at the very least have the stand nearly complete.
-
i should prob add to mine and say finsih the 10 books i have on brewing and history and science and all that good stuff

Temperature control and kegging here.

To not cut corners when I brew, to not waste time when I brew, to make the best beer I can possibly make while doing the least work and having the most fun I possibly can.
-
Brew 12 styles that I haven't ever done before
-
to buy less commercial beer (already off to a bad start - bought 3 6pks on Sunday :-[ ) and cut my brew time back down - I've been pushing close to 7 hours, when I used to take only 5.5.
-
- getting classic German lager fermentation to work
- checking how much difference different mashing schedules really make
- yeast related experiments

I would like to figure out how to make my beer better whether it's the kind of yeast I use, the recipe, or the brew process. I'd also like to start washing and/or reusing yeast as well. I started kegging in December so I can't say that.
I would also like to go out less to bars and buy less commercial beer, which means brewing enough to keep my satisfied without doing that.
-
In no particular order:
* Work out a practical (for me) way to reuse yeast
* Get better results with lager beers than I did last year - bigger starters should help
* Assemble my brew cart, now that I have most of the components - maybe with natural gas burners
* Score 70 or higher on the BJCP exam (February 13th)
* Be more active in my local homebrewers' club
* Teach a friend to brew
-
1. Improve my efficiency
2. get a mill and start buying in bulk
3. Streamline my brewcart
4. Start messing with bugs
5. Enter more comps

Start AG brewing

Start AG brewing
I'm with Egghead.

Since starting this hobby I have always had one goal.
1) To improve my beer. All new equipment purchases and new methodologies always were directed at that goal. I would prioritize purchases based on that premise even at the expense of convenience.
With experience a second goal was added.
2) To improve my breweries safety. I then moved from a three tier system to a single tier. That took most of my resources for a period of time. Most of the summer actually.
Now, for 2010 I have been concentrating on increasing my ingredient supply and volume. I want to begin kegging this year, and it may even be at the expense of goal number one above. Although a fermentation freezer conversion would be better used to meet that goal, I find kegging becoming more important. That and yeast handling are my goals.

1. Set up my grain mill and pump, should be next week.
2. Get my porter and black lager recipes nailed down. (They're really close!)
3. Brew more - I only did 35 gallons in 2009 and I'd like to do a lot more in 2010. Only up to the 100 gallon limit, of course. ;)
-
Only up to the 100 gallon limit, of course. ;)
Begs the question, is it worth getting hitched to bump that limit up to 200 gallons :)
-
If memory serves you only have to be cohabitating, and that's a definite possibility for this year. ;D

Thats where a blow up doll in bed and a womans coat from a rummage sale hanging on the hook are helpful when the beer police show up..

Oh, I forgot my goals, I need to make some different beers and expand my wings a little. I make about 6 beers all the time and need to play with some other yeasts and styles.
And I need to continue working on my Hoptober clone recipe again.
-
1. pressure can starter wort
2. start brewing lagers and create a build a better fermentation chamber
3. bottle more beer from my kegs for friends and family
4. brew at least every other week

Yeah... come on man get that thing done! Jeez, WTF is the hold up anyways. :-*

If I could only get the welder to get off his lazy can and do some welding...oh shizizzle it's you Capp. ;D
-
Yeah I know. I so long to be lazy. Seems I am behind on everything.
I want to build my brew stand too. Hoping to do it at about the same time or a little after yours. Im going with regular steel though.
Hey, BTW good thing you got your stainless when you did. Price is climbing fast now. Ill bet those tubes are worth a lot more now. I wish I bought an ass load of stainless.
Sorry for the highjack.
My goals is
1. to help bluesman meet his goal.
2. complete a brew stand, maybe two, for my self as well.
3. Go AG get expedient with it and stay there.
4. star kegging.
5.. brew more beer.
I think that is realistic? ::)
-
Let's see.....
1)Build my collar. All I lack are shanks. Cedar 2X4's are sitting in garage, 4 Perlicks are in brew closet. Freezer is just waiting!
2)Get a pump and begin whirlpooling my wort around my IC in my keggle.
3)Bottle these damn Brett beers. I hate bottling, but I don't want to keg these bad boys. They tend to go way too quickly in kegs. Only 15 gallons....I can do it!
4)Golf more! Oops, off-topic.

Build a brew sculpture, enter a competition, win a medal.
-
Wow, I like all the goals mentioned! I'm stuck at the moment with my brew shed, so I guess its finishing that. Right now its doubling as a storage shed as well as a brew shed and its kinda cramped, no power, etc. When winter breaks I'll start working on it again.
-
Brew a lambic.
Build the Brewmaster 3000 (which includes plumbing work in the basement and a hood for the BK.)
-
My goals are:
1 Focus on my process to improve efficiency and consistency.
2 Begin kegging
3 Brew a little more often
-
2 words.....Brew Stand!
-
I have a 1.5 bbl system that is about 90 percent completed ... and I need to learn to brew on it. That's my goal.
-
Lose about 10 lbs., ride my bike more, brew even better beer, do more things that please the wifey.
Not necessarily in that order...
-
Brew a lot (I'm retired now), get my barrels filled again (7.5 for lambic, 5 for flemish red), use those grains I smoked (12 lbs), enter some competitions, do some more decocted lagers, maybe get back to Bamberg for research.
Go to the NHC again, always a good time. See you there.
-
1. Refurbish the used brew stand I bought for my wife a few years ago so that she does not have to lift heavy mash tuns when she brews.
2. Enter more competitions.
3. Take the BJCP exam.
-
My number 1 goal is to brew more! Hopefully I can hit the 200 gallon limit! ;)
I also want to brew with members of my club more consistently.....It's good for everyone!
-
I'm very happy with my Porter and Pale Ales. I really want to brew a good tripel this year as well as a good hefeweisen.
-
I just thought of another one . . Be more efficient with my ingredient purchases. In the past I've bulk purchased without much consideration to what I was ultimately going to brew. I was especially guilty during the hop shortage a couple of years ago. Now, I'm going to decide what I will brew for the year and buy only what I will use.

I'm pretty guilty of this myself. What I need to do is get a sack or two of base malt and then just buy what I need for the next few batches. I don't think I could buy everything I needed for the entire year though. I change my mind too often and keep tweaking my recipes up until I really need to order the ingredients.
-
Just started so my goal is to brew as much as possible. Learn learn learn......also buy as many new brew toys as I can. Maybe build that man cave
-
invest in fermentation control equipment. I figure my process can't really improve much more until I can better control fermentation temps.

Mine is to achieve a sense of High Well Being!
