Denny's whiskey link makes me ire-ful.
Here's something that reminds me of the good of humanity. Stick with it. Trust me.

Thanks, Drew. We all need more of that kind of stuff.

Awww, that was nice.

Definitely puts that $200K bottle of whiskey into perspective.

Less greed and war machines, more this...

Very heart-warming. No child should have to start life with a deformation- one that is fixed so easily.

Hear, hear!

Very cool stuff.
I know a couple of surgeons who volunteer time to Operation Smile. One of my kid's 6th Grade class held a preseason basketball tournament (it's a class service project, every year the class chooses the charity) to raise money for them several years ago. Its nice to see the changes a simple surgery like that can make.

drew you seem to be a respectable man...cheers
here's a lighthearted perspective reminder for all of us. stick with this one to the end too, he really hits on the impact of a very simple (and cheap) item that most of us give little thought to

I love TED talks. I've always wanted to: attend TED (yowch the money!) and give a TED talk on beer and brewing.
Can you imagine? I wonder if the TED folks have a no swearing rule? :)

If so, that leaves you out in the cold! ;)

You know, I can speak less bluely, but where's the fun in that? :)

I'm a newcomer to TED talks, but I'm watching the videos as fast as I can. I'd give my left nut to attend <sigh> sounds like they might want my money instead. I do thoroughly enjoy public speaking; it's just that my opinions don't seem to be in high demand. :) Let us know when you're giving your TED beertalk.
Your need/desire to spice speeches up with expletives cracks me up...you could say that it's against my nature to swear. Then every once in a while due to who knows what, not more than roughly 50% of the time, I find myself liberally dosing my sentences/thoughts with good-natured foul language and abnormally base humor. Fall time always seems to get me

Ahh, I think Denny and I play that up more on the forum than it is reality. I actually do a lot of pseudo-swearing in my presentations, where I leave you with the impression that I've sworn but haven't really. Most of the time, I use it as punctuation and a key for people to laugh and drive home a point.
And the latent Catholic School student in me laughs in glee at the "wrongness" of it. I admit, childish.

I did a floor speech one time dealing with a bill that would have cut funding for dental care for low income people.
"If people are interviewing for a job and it comes down to two equally qualified people, and one provides a great smile and the other a smile that shows teeth needing to be corrected, who do you think gets the job?"
It did not matter, we cut the funding.

Great video! Astounding that she recovered from surgery that quickly. Beautiful girl!
