Title: ball lock
Post by: jimrod on October 03, 2011, 06:46:41 am
I'm trying to add a ball lock to a converted 15.5 gal keg/fermentor..

Where can I get the ball valve post, the part that is welded to the corny?
(not the part that has the poppet in it)

Perhaps you might consider going to a sankey connection instead?

I have the sanke already.  I just want to be able to snap the gas on to add a few psi to push the beer up hill without having to change fittings.

That thread has to be available from somewhere? How do people add a ball lock fitting to another project without having to cut apart a good corny?

Good question...try calling Northern Brewer or More Beer for suggestions...otherwise you'll have to cut them out of a used corny.

This link gives you the dimensions and thread counts on different types of corny kegs.  You may be able to get a machine shop to make you a fitting.

Just use one of these.  http://www.austinhomebrew.com/product_info.php?cPath=178_40_131_575&products_id=10049

The Sanke CO2 side has a check valve of its own.

I think this is what you're looking for.  It should do the trick, since flare fittings are pretty standard.  This will convert a flare fitting to a corny post and then you can add the ball lock fitting.

If you had to have someone machine stainless tubing to get the 19/31 - 18 threads on there I imagine it would be cost prohibitive.  I'm not even sure where you would buy tubing for that if you wanted to cut it with a die.

Good luck.
