Well I was GOING to brew a heather ale last weekend but the ingredients did not arrive on time. So I was GOING to brew it this weekend but I failed to procure the heather tips. So plans are shifted, intentions reaimed and the new plan is to brew a simple pale ale/ ordinary bitter type thing this weekend which was going to be the small beer from a parti-gyle next weekend (also the starter for the BW next weekend) and brew the heather ale next weekend along with the BW.

Busy busy

West Coast APA. Basically, a session strength version of 21st Amendment's Brew Free Or Die IPA, which is one of my favorite IPAs.

No brewing again - got my heating elements and hopstopper yesterday, which I'll be installing on the new kettles.  And then I can stare and drool at the new kettles sitting on the garage floor for the next 3-4 months.   ::)

It'll be 11 gallons of my house IPA on Sunday. The cellar is prime for fermenting ales right now.

No brewing for me, but I'll be spending the weekend in Madison, WI. I imagine I drink a pint or 3. Or more. There's a lot of good local beer to be had in Wisconsin these days.

Supposed to be a Celebration Ale clone, right?

I brewed the CYBI Green Flash IPA clone last night, thanks to Paul for the recipe.  Hope it's good!  The real deal sure is good.

After smoking 20 Lbs of Wheat malt over oak, then toasting 1.5 lbs of that, I brewed a Graetzer "Real Version" as listed on page 192 of Radical Brewing.  10 gallon batch.

Heard a lot about it, but haven't tried it.  It sounds fantastic though; I'll probably have to brew it sometime!

Been brewing this one for the last year. Easily the best IPA I've ever made. I would highly recommend it to anyone. For me, I'll be dry hopping my Stone Levitation clone and watching the batch of cider I have going. Oh, and plenty of quality control!

Have Monday off, and both Sunday and Monday I'm alone (booyah! I mean... boohoo!). Brewing McQuaker's Oatmeal Stout (team member at work: "You're making that again? It was like an oatmeal cookie!") and a somewhat bold version of California Common. Happy to have some zymurgical therapy time.

I'm brewing a chili beer base Saturday. I plan on adding the peppers in the cornies next weekend. I'm still debating on which peppers, how many, and how they are processed.  I have a few pounds of Jalapeno and Anaheims, but could get others. I could use the small cornies and have up to 4 treatments. I have a Traeger and could smoke them. Ideas??

Denny's famous Vanilla Bourbon Porter on deck next weekend (if the chili beer is out of the conical).

Bruce .

I love the flavor but find it to be a bit over the top bitter for my taste.  I took that recipe after it first aired on CYBI and backed the gravity down about 15% and the bitterness about 20% but left the late hopping alone and the results were real nice.  Still, I prefer the Firestone Walker Union Jack clone which I've made a few times now.

After 16 years of all grain brewing I finally got around to building a cooler mash tun from a 48 qt Igloo with a copper manifold.  I did a "wet" run yesterday and without grain the manifold flows like my weepy neighbor when she drinks.  So later today I may do an all cascade rye IPA with my new toy.

I have a head a cold but the wife informed me I'm slacking on brewing weizen.  She has only one hefe and some American wheats.  I managed to brew a dunkelweizen, this time I mashed 2lb of Vienna malt on the stove and boiled it down to bring some caramlized flavor to this brew.  I was inspired by a kit cream ale that had some LME, I bottled it a couple days ago and it had a nice caramel flavor.

Update, I slowly boiled the 2gal of wort from mashing 2lb of Vienna, down to 1/2gal.  Then I added this to the main wort.  I had to leave for a few hours and had planned to just keep the main wort warm while I was gone, but with a lid on the kettle it actually boiled on a low setting on my stovetop.  When I got home it had the look of a wort that had been boiled a good while, eggdrop soup from the wheat protein.  It'll probably be a clear krsytalweizen but oh well.  I finished the boil on propane so I could get a decent conversion of my hops whch I hadn't added before leaving.

All in all, a very unusual process but I'm still hoping its beer.  For my wife's sake anyway.

Brewed Ron's and mine award winning doppelbock.  Found that I had a problem with my mill.  I have been getting less efficiency over the last few batches.  Come to find out, my mill gap was wide enough to drive a truck through (albeit a very small truck ;))  I need to see if I can clean it and reset it.  If not, time to chuck the old Corona and get a Barleycrusher. (should do that anyway ::))

Didn't see a thread for this weekend....so FWIW, I brewed a ten gallon batch of Jealous Helles yesterday and she is gurgling away at 48F on S-23 slurry collected yesterday from a prior lager batch.

A lager for Christmas....

Cheers.
