whats on your playlist while you brew, i usually listen to the stones man i just feel like the beer loves the stones
-
I do music for a living, so when I brew I want something that doesn't remind me of work! I tend to listen to NPR....Car Talk, Whaddya Know, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, This American Life, Prairie Home Companion....
-
my brewday usually has a "soundtrack".... recently it's been phish one day, tool one day, the OM records 3cd comp that was released a couple or so years ago....
tomorrow it's going to be miles davis complete live at the plugged nickel....
-
Random playlists.
Slayer to Jaques Brel to Black Flag to Waylon Jennings to..
Keeps it interesting.
-
Last brew session, it was the Dead @ swing aud 77, Keller Williams and Frank Zappa.
-
never one particular band
Ranges anywhere from Ween to Zappa to Captain Beefheart to Hendrix to Johnny Cash to... just set the disc changer to random and let it work it's magic.
-
Ben Harper and the Relentless 7, and Ryan Adams with a little Dave Mathews thrown in.
-
I always have the iPod playing while I'm brewing. I set it to shuffle and listen to my whole collection about 5000 songs. Everything from classical to hard rock. It's a part of the brewing process for me. 8)
-
I've got a mix CD playing for the brew session tonight. Dark Side of the Moon is on right now.
-
I would have to second Dave Matthews. Also, some John Butler Trio, maybe a little Jack Johnson or Brett Dennen.
-
Aargh! You guys are reminding me of how archaic my current brew shed is! I'm still piss-ant'ing pots, kegs and carboys around just so "I can" brew. :P No power in the brew shed yet.... this spring and summer things will change though. ;)
-
For me it's always classic rock.
-
Smooth Jazz & DooWop
-
ZAPPA!!!!!!!!
-
When inside, my current "brew mix" consists of:
Clash, Manson, Eddie Vetter, vintage beer commercial snippets, Arcade Fire, Springsteen, Flaming Lips, Kansas, Floyd, Richard Thomas, Indigo Girls, Ramones
When outside: I got the squirrel, cardinal, bluejay, crow, and other birds doing the background soundtrack.

I like your style...
-
Cubs games during the baseball season, otherwise I won't listen to anything or if I do listen to music it's some kind of metal.

now that's eclectic.
-
My first ever brew, I was listening to the Ramones, and that became somewhat of a tradition, though I might expand that these days and listen to a punk station on Rhapsody.
-
I don't listen to music when I brew, except at Bluesmans brewery. I usually have tunes whirling around in my head anyway.
-
+1 on Ben Harper and John Butler. I can get down on some Toots and the Maytalls as well... good brew tunes.
However, Lately I've been entering Atmosphere into Pandora and getting some great stuff.
-
Often, it's the local "classic rock"radio station, and sometimes a ballgame on the radio. If not those, then probably something like Led Zeppelin, Zappa, King Crimson or other prog-rock. The exception is when brewing German styles - I always bust out the polka and German brass band stuff for that.
-
Usually nothing since I brew outdoors with no power. But on the couple times I've taken my laptop outside, I usually just set iTunes on shuffle, unless I'm in the mood for something specific - which could be anything.
-
Cubs games during the baseball season
How do you account for the extra volume from all the tears you must shed into your wort..... ;D
I'm a TX Ranger's fan so I can relate and understand. I usually let iTunes pick out a good mix of rock and Texas Country for me. Always some DBT and Ryan Bingham playing along with Our Lady Peace and recently a lot of Foo Fighters

ZAPPA!!!!!!!!
+1,000
-
Lately I've been jamming to Umphrey's McGee and Moe. But ZAPPA for sure!
Sometimes I try to listen to a BN podcast, but I tend to miss out on the good stuff, so I stick with music.
-
Last brew day I set Pandora up with a Umphreys McGee seed. I got Dead, Phish and all things jammy.
-
Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Queen, Metallica and Van Halen
-
Laptop playlist varies but its always trance (EDM) >>
Paul Van Dyk, Sander van Doorn, Markus Schulz, Rank 1, Cosmic Gate, Marcel Woods and Johan Gielen,Tiƫsto
Ferry Corsten Marco V,Sander van Doorn,Kyau and Albert , Joop, Jochen Miller ,Sean Tyas, Armin van Buuren....
-
Sometimes I'll just go onto Archive.org and pick out a band and stream live shows. Tons of bands, mostly jamband stuff. Keller Williams, Martin Sexton, Grateful Dead, Moe, Galactic, Drive By Truckers, STS9, Disco Biscuits, Perpetual Groove, Bela Fleck, Umphreys McGee, etc, etc.....
Here's the link:

I love me some UM! Usually set up my iPod and turn it on shuffle until it gets to an album I decide needs to be heard completely. Most of the time ends up with some Passafire - CHECK THEM OUT!

Can't wait for baseball! Go Cubs Go!
-
Satellite radio, classic country to metal depends on my mood. I was seriously pissed when they got rid of the punk rock channel.
-
Depends on my mood, but there is usually lots of room for the Clash and Joe Strummer. I think Friday's brew session is might be heavy on ska with generous doses of the Pogues and some Clutch thrown in for good measure.
-
So, am I the only one who listens to "The Session" while brewing?
-
I tried to listen to it last Sunday. Didn't work for me. I like music while I brew. I listen to the Session during late night shifts.
-
+1. I usually listen to the Session while I'm at work. I need to pay attention while I'm brewing. :D
-
okay, what is "the session" . granted, I don't know 90% of what has been listed here either.

Isn't it a Sirius Radio channel. My Sirius broke, a while ago so I forget.....

Ohhhhhhhh. Whoops.
-
The problem that I have with listening to the session or a JZ show, etc is that I miss too much when I go outside to check on the boil, go inside to pee, or grab the fermenter from the basement.
So for yesterday's brew, I jammed some Frank Zappa, Steely Dan, and Umphrey's McGee

I think last time I brewed to Zappa a little too much Cosmic Debris went into my fermenter...... ;)

Not sure, I think for the better......I guess the crux of the biscuit is the Apostrophe(').
