Beer Recipes / issue with Summertime Ginger Ale for Big Brew 2016
« on: June 09, 2016, 02:55:07 PM »
I noted that the final gravity for the Summertime Ginger Ale for the Big Brew 2016 says 1.000.  I presume that is a mistake and therefore is messing with the ABV listed as 3.68%.  What is the intention, a 3.6% brew or a ~2.x% brew?

Anyone know what the efficiency is for the listed recipe?

Anyone brewed it and have feedback?

1 lb per gallon, freeze them and leave in secondary for 7-12 days.

How can  you get 105 IBU's from Stone Ruination IPA clone in Zymurgy July/August 2012?

The recipe is:

12.5 lb two row
12 oz 15L
1.75 oz Columbus at -90
1.0 oz Centennial at 0
2.5 oz Centennial dry hop

Brewpal calculates it as: 47 IBU

All Grain Brewing / Does it matter?
« on: July 12, 2012, 01:11:16 AM »
Does it matter if i add my grain to the water or the water to my grain?

I forgot to mention that I added the salts just before the boil, not during the mash (which is where I think I should have)

I'm guessing the beer should be drinkable, but perhaps a little bitter because its a low alchol level.

Thoughts on adding it at boil instead of mash?

Thanks all for the info and links. Still digesting.  :)

General Homebrew Discussion / Distilled water and BrewCraft Burton salts
« on: February 16, 2012, 01:25:30 AM »
If I used distilled water is there a standard that can applied for adding salts to imitate Burton water.

On a side note I used 5 teaspoons of BrewCraft Burton salts to my 5 gallon batch brewed with distilled water.  I think the package said each teaspoon to 1 gallon would add 889 points.

The styles I brewed were an Amber and a brown

Did I really mess this up?

I like that.  I'll submit it for NHC!

Add 1 Honey bee to primary.

One just flew into the fermenter and sunk.

Any thoughts and or concerns?

Should I transfer or leave it in.

Homebrew Competitions / markings on caps
« on: January 26, 2011, 06:19:01 AM »
Just to make sure I'm clear...

I can mark my caps now and then when I send them in for the upcoming "National Homebrew Competition" for 2011 I can 'mark out' my identification on the caps... color it in is as black circle?
