Hahaha he's probably just caught up in life and not checking his emails--all well and good, but I would prefer the certainty of a hotel reservation squared away rather than wait and worry :p.

Hey all--

My usual roommate is being a bit flaky; anyone need a filler person for a hotel room?  I haven't booked yet, but I can if someone else wants to go in with me.  I'll be there Weds-Sunday.  I just don't want to drop $600 for little old me :p

Hey, thanks for the feedback!  I'm glad you enjoyed it :).  All the verbal feedback I've gotten was very encouraging, but the post-presentation polling data was a little critical....with no details to it, of course.

I frankly haven't heard of trying to separate out the yeast from the rice solids.  There is no particular layering of the solids or the yeast, it's just one big gooky mess.

I can tell you from first hand experience that I did not get any yeastiness from the solids when I made a nigorisake, if that helps :).

I also have not heard of any attempts at polishing one's own rice, but I'd love to hear the results of anyone who did!

PS I did submit for another seminar topic, this time on electronic controls 101--basically a primer on all things electronic associated with the brew day.  Hopefully I'll hear good news in a couple weeks!

I suppose this is a bit on the late side, but if anyone was at the 2014 NHC and had feedback on the How to Homebrew Sake presentation, I would love to hear it!  I am hoping to incorporate lessons learned into my next seminar submission, on a different topic.  Thanks in advance!

OOOOOOOkay, so my plans just totally fell through.  My anticipated roommate has had to cancel his plans on going to NHC this year, so I'm back out on the NHC street.  Anyone still looking for a roommate at this relatively late date?

I should say now that I have found a person to share a hotel room with.  Carry on!

Sorry if it seemed like I was being accusatory with that exclamatory statement....I know that the competitions are volunteer driven.  But with all the shiny new breweries in town, and the legions of homebrewers, it just seemed really surprising that no one stepped forwards.  And like I said, if one was closer (I live, relatively speaking, out in the sticks) I'd be happy to help!

And nothing wrong with Milwaukee...except that it's on the far side of the lake!

I have stewarded for the last two NHC second round competitions, and having recently become BJCP Recognized, I'd love to steward / judge for 1st round.  But the closest one to me is something like a 7 hour drive.

No, thank you!

PS seriously, how is Chicago not an entry location?

Meeeeeeh...Last year's BNA party was REALLY so-so.  Two years ago in San Diego was awesome.  I'm now leery...

Another year, another conference...and another frantic scramble to find a roommate!

The goddess of IT blessed me on registration day, and I was able to snag a registration slot for the conference, but Alas! the host hotel was already booked up by conference hopefuls.

Hit me up if you have a room in (preferably) the conference hotel, or a nearby hotel.  I promise not to snore, smell, or otherwise be an obnoxious roommate!

I'm looking for a roommate (preferentially one with a room already booked :p).  Shoot me a message if you already have a room set up!

Bump--still looking for a roommate.  I'd reaaaally like to avoid paying for a hotel all for my lonesome.

Ok, another try:  Having been lucky with the waiting list, I'm going to NHC, but I don't have anyone to room with out there.  I don't particularly have a preference for main hotel or one of the connecting ones--either would be fine.  Just trying to avoid paying for a whole room for just me.

I'm pretty clean, don't smell, don't snore, and the AABG guys can vouch for me :).
