Tape alone has still resulted in leaks for me.

I prefer using washers, as previously mentioned. Like these:

10 ft, 12 psi has also worked perfectly for me.

I would try WLP810 for 60 degrees.

Cool. Thanks for sharing. My grandfather told stories about bringing home buckets of beer from the bar in his small mining town in northern NY. Never knew about the origin of the term, though.

+1 on the allergies. Makes evaluation tough.

Luckily my wife has a great sense of taste/smell, so she's my guinea pig.

I'm a malt man at heart, but I go back and forth. I try to never buy or brew the same beer back-to-back. Keeps things fun and interesting. Less burnout on specific styles.

Make sure you calibrate your thermometer. My first AG batch was a Kolsch that was quite chewy...not so good. The thermometer I used was about 10 degrees off.

Ah yes. It's not the cold that gets to me in NY, it's the lack of sun in the winter. Very gloomy. However, it's been very clear and sunny this weekend.

I bought these chrome ferrules from Kegworks.

Let me know how your project goes!

Pimp My System / Easy Tap Handles
« on: January 26, 2014, 08:06:46 AM »
I made three chalkboard tap handles this weekend for only $15. They are not masterpieces by any means, but I think it beats spending $40 per handle.

Parts:

- 36" poplar 2 x 2
- 3/8-16 x 3 hanger bolts
- Ferrules
- Chalkboard spray paint

Simply drill a 3/8 hole, screw in hanger bolts, and spray paint handle. Couldn't be easier.

I'm going to stain the two on the left later today, but the one on the far right is complete. The one in the middle is a little crooked, oh well.
