Howdy, I'm not real familiar with this site, is there a place I can find recipes for a gluten free beer? My cousin's neighbor bought a sweet kegerator just before being told by his Dr. he needed a gluten free diet. He's going to subsidize some kegging equipment if I can find a palatable gluten free beer.

I've used spruce tips with great sucess. I added them about 30 minutes into the boil on a stout recipe (I still do extract/grain brewing) and the pine taste is very subtle and gin like without tasting like pine sol. I actually put spruce tips in a mead last saturday. I only put them in for 15 minutes since I didn't want to over power the honey.

I'm bottling my beer today. I put the beer into my deep freeze for a couple of hours to congeal the bacon grease. I haven't tasted it yet.

I "baconized"  my beer today. 2 weeks in the primary was a little longer than I had planned but I got busy. I think it will work out ok since I know that the grease is less likely to mess with the yeasties since they've had a little extra time. I baked the bacon and blotted it on a paper towel as suggested above. I went with a full pound of hardwood smoked, sugar cured bacon. Now I just wait...planning on letting that sit for a week.

I think I drink enough. I never start one until the other is finished. I haven't ever really drank too many. Now bottling is another story, too much happening to enjoy drinking. I have jacked that up a little from too many. Didn't wreck the beer, just spilled more than a sober me would have.

I'm glad I had planned on brewing today anyway. The date had slipped by me. I guess God was watching out for me. I am brewing a Porter that I am planning on flavoring with bacon in the secondary.

My first named beer, Double Tap IPA. To die for...  ;)

I used to just name them in sequential order acording to the city I was living in. ie Denver #4 or Dallas #3. I've started giving them names though.

I'm brewing a Porter that I intend to flavor with bacon in the secondary.

Thanks for the input. I have made bacon infused vodka in the past and it has turned out well. The de-fatting part was tedious and I wanted to avoid that with the beer. I think I will put the bacon in the secondary and chill it and siphon the beer from underneath it for bottling.

I'm a firm believer that bacon makes anything better. I am thinking about bacon and beer. I have tasted smoked porter that reminded me of bacon, but I was wondering if anyone had actually flavored beer with bacon. How did it turn out? When did you put it in? I am thinking of adding it in the last 15 minutes or so of the boil. I am concerned with the grease. Of course I will fry the bacon and try to drain off most of the grease. As I write this it sounds kind of crazy, but I figure that experimentation is what makes homebrewing fun.

I am dry hopping a double IPA and the directions say to add the hops after my beer has "dropped bright"
