This year's Sam Adams Octoberfest is available and has been for a little while. I bought a case of it last week for $25 at the Sam's Store near my house (I love the great deals at Sam's). I haven't tried it yet but I know that it's 2010's because they have a brand new label.

The name of mine is Louisiana Tung Brewery. "Get Licked By The Tung!" When I bought my house I hung an old stolen street sign on top of my outside cooking shed. That shed became my brewery and that sign is Louisiana Tung Rd.

Beer Travel / Bars in Miami, FL

I'll be going to Miami next month and was wondering where the best places to drink are? I found quite a few before like The Abbey, Fritz and Franz, The Bar, The Yard House, and Titanic Brewery. If anyone knows any other good places, please let me know.

I'll be in Memphis, TN from August 6th to August 8th for a rugby tournament. Everyone usually goes party on Beale Street afterwards and I know they have a Flyer Saucer Bar there with lots of good beer, but I was wondering if anyone knew of any other good bars to visit or any brews to try? Thanks in advance for your help.

That is such great news! I have been calling and writing representitives and senators all along the way. I have already written and called Senator Donahue today and can only hope and pray that this bill gets passed. I already have two establishments waiting on these results, ready to celebrate by having local homebrew tastings! Thank you Gary for keeping us updated.

I just got back from Doha, Qatar where it was around 110 F with about 60 percent humidity.  Hot and sticky.

Quick! Somebody get this man a beer!

All I can say is WOW! This beer has extreme flavor and I extremely enjoyed it. Has anyone else tried this brew? I have a six pack of their 20th Anniversary Raging b**** Belgian IPA that I'm looking forward to trying.

Watch out for those damn beer gnomes! They strike when you least expect them. I had a full keg of my pale ale earlier this week and last night, the keg was dry!  :'(

Thanks for all of the good tips everyone. I'm sure that I'll have fun regardless. I will definitely look for the Daq Shack because I'm staying at the Wyndham in Nassau.

I'm going to the Bahamas at the end of June and wondering if there is any good beer that I should look for while there. My instincts tell me that I'll be sticking to liquor or mixed drinks, but ya never know. Help me out if ya can.

General Homebrew Discussion / Home Brewing in Louisiana
« on: May 19, 2010, 12:35:14 PM »
To my understanding, as of now homebrewing in Louisiana is neither legal or illegal. The good people of the AHA and BA are working to fix that problem right now with House Bill No. 1484. I have been reading up on this bill and I'm a little confused about it's goal. Now I'm no lawyer (but I do play one on TV), but it seems to me that if this bill is passed it will allow for a 3 day special event permit for a retail dealer to allow homebrew on their licensed permits. So basically, a bar or restaurant can have homebrew at their establishment as long as its for a homebrew club meeting, homebrew contests, or just an exhibition as long as the homebrew is not being sold or offered to be sold. I think that this is wonderful and a great step for homebrewers, but does this bill just allow this for 3 days? Does that mean that it has to be a 3 day event or is it allowed only 3 times at each establishment? This is where I'm confused. Can anyone help explain this to me?
