Ingredients / Coffee Addition into Secondary
« on: February 08, 2012, 01:00:33 PM »
Greeting!  I finally did my first all grain batch last weekend - a stout recipe that turned out well and had 73% efficiency.  I was happy.  Now I come to where I put it into secondary and have a coffee addition for it though.  I normally crushed the coffee a bit and put it in the fermenter, but have heard how you can actually brew the coffee first and then pour the cooled coffee into the secondary as well.  Any thoughts and input would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks.

Grain into the water or water onto the grain?  I have heard and read both ways.  Thanks for the help! :)

I thought about using the extract but after a miserable experience using cherry extract before, I did not want to venture back towards that area.  I was going to crush the nuts and nibs a bit before adding to the fermentor.  Toasting might be a good idea too.

Ingredients / Secondary additions - sanitation questions

Hello all - I am going to add hazelnuts and cacao nibs to a stout's secondary and wanted to know if I should do anything to them in the way of sanitation first before adding them?  I don't really want to boil them at all, but don't want to infect my beer either.  Any and all help please!  Thanks!

Went there a few years back - Glacier Brew house was amazing for food and good for beer.  Overall very good stuff.  Try to get to Juneau and visit the Alaskan Brewery - well worth the trip.

Events / Looking for 1 ticket for Conferences in MN
« on: May 19, 2010, 08:36:15 AM »
Hello all - I have been trying to find anyone with an extra ticket to the Conference in June.  I was saving up the money to go to everything including the conferences and by the time I did - unfortunately the tickets for the conferences were sold out.  I am going to come to the social stuff but to drive that far I was really hoping to be able to get to some of the lectures and discussions.  Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you for your time!  Looking forward to seeing you all in MN next month!! :)
