Why don't you just go to a larger cooler? Still be cheaper than a pot

The first thing I would do is buy an adjustable propane regulator http://www.ebay.com/bhp/adjustable-propane-regulator-hose . You are wasting a lot of money if not turning your flame down after boil starts And for a larger kettle I bought mine from Sams.com. It is aluminum and works just fine and is lighter and a lot Cheaper than stainless. http://www.samsclub.com/sams/the-backyard-classic-pro-outdoor-stock-pot-100-qt/prod2540475.ip
Why are so many people stuck on 5 gal batches. Does not cost that much more to step up to 15 gal and basically takes the same amount of time.  Still do 5gal for Barley Wines and Stouts and Tripples

Kegged up the batch yesterday and came out fine. Started at 1.60 and finished at 1.05. Should make a descent IPA. Think I am going to start top cropping my yeast. Will be pretty easy.

I really watched what I ate and worked outside doing Hydroseeding and landscaping from the time I was thirty till 41 and I still went from 135 to 175. Spent 7 years working in a office, went up to 198 and now at 50 I just got down to 192 and my doctor says I got 15 more. Would be ok if I was about 4 inches taller. Trying to quit drinkin during the week as the extra weight is killing my back.

Be great on the  beach or in the boat. Be even better if the label fell off in the cooler ::)

What if you just made a Barley Wine and used that for your flavor enhancer.  Couple OZ in a lame beer and WALAH! A mediocre beer.

Other Fermentables / Re: Coconut wine, anyone?

So what happened? I started reading and got to the point where things started to get interesting. I was going to say to grate up the coconut and roast like half of it fore a little more flavor.

Yeast and Fermentation / Re: blonde ale with US-05 tasting like Hefe
« on: June 17, 2013, 09:50:32 AM »
I had 2 back to back batches of repitched US-05 that didn't taste quite right. Thought it was the malt I was using as I had switched venders. Tossed the yeast and started with fresh US-05 and last 2 batches with the same malt have been fine. Takes a little for me to burn up 150lb

Bartering is a sport. The better deal you get the more YOU WIN! When you feel you made a screaming deal it is like hitting a home run.

I would start at $1000. You said they are well used and some people would not put much value on something in that shape. You can always go up from there. I usually figure used is never worth more than half of new. Unless it is JUST LIKE NEW.

« on: June 10, 2013, 10:22:00 AM »
Bought some new open top barrels and they were supposed to be 18 gal. I thought these would be perfect for fermenting 16 gallons with 15.5 finished. Turns out the barrels have 24 gal capacity so I have 8 gal head space. I even added 2 extra gallons into boil to end up with 18 gal and still leaves  6 gal head space.

I used to give my dog the first half glass am foam of the day. If I didn't he would pout. One time I gave him a full pint out of a new keg as it was a little yeasty. He looked a little lit afterwords but seemed pretty happy. At 12 it was nice just to see him wag his tail
