Big fan of Listermann's and everything they've done for Cincinnati homebrewers!  Great employees and always helpful.  See you as soon as the we get rid of this snow, can't wait to start brewing again!  (it's only been 3 weeks, but still...)

Kegging and Bottling / Uncarbed bottles?
« on: February 20, 2010, 01:16:19 AM »
Brewed up a Two Hearted clone the day after Christmas with the brand new burner Santa brought for me.  Was shooting for a 1.072 OG, but since it was my first time using my new burner, way underestimated the boil off volume and only ended up with a little under four gallons of 1.083.  Used a starter (1056) and got it down to 1.014 after a couple of weeks, transferred to the secondary and dry hopped for a week.  Bottled on January 19th.  Had the bottles sitting in our basement - about 50-55 degrees.  After a couple of weeks I cracked one open and there was no carbonation and tasted super sweet (priming sugar).  Realized it was probably way too cold down there, so I brought them up and put them on top of the fridge in our kitchen (65-70 degrees). Two weeks later, just cracked open one and still very little, if any carbonation.  Are these beers screwed?  Anything I can do to save them?  Should I have added more yeast when bottling?  Any help is greatly appreciated!

Once had some buddies over and brewed up a batch of a two hearted clone and then a belgian strong ale.  Had a few beers which I very rarely do during the brewday.  As I was pouring the starter into the belgian, I realized it was the starter I had made for the two hearted and the starter for the belgian was already in the bucket with the two hearted.  Felt like a complete jackass.  Beers came out tasing OK, but would've been awesome if I would have used the correct yeast!

Still trying to decide if I should brew or not, thinking about Denny's Old Stoner though if I do...

Last brew day I set Pandora up with a Umphreys McGee seed.  I got Dead, Phish and all things jammy.

I love me some UM!  Usually set up my iPod and turn it on shuffle until it gets to an album I decide needs to be heard completely.  Most of the time ends up with some Passafire - CHECK THEM OUT!

Cubs games during the baseball season, otherwise I won't listen to anything or if I do listen to music it's some kind of metal.

Can't wait for baseball!  Go Cubs Go!

Just started all-grain in March 2009, up to 16 five gallons batches and 2 10 gallon batches.

Average about $20-30 per batch.

Not sure on distribution, but would love to be able to open brewpub someday.  Hopefully will have the resources once I get some more experience.

As an 2006 IU grad, I hope the Hoosiers beat the crap out Purdue November 21st!  If Phish wasn't playing in Cincinnati, I'd be in Bloomington cheering on the Hoosiers!
