General Homebrew Discussion / New York Craft Beer Week
« on: September 27, 2010, 11:18:45 AM »
We just wanted to remind members in New York, and surrounding areas, that the 3rd Annual NY Craft Beer Week runs through October 3rd. We’d love hear from those of you who are attending some of these wonderful events. Be sure to leave a note on the NY Craft Beer Week Releasehttp://www.craftbeer.com/pages/news-and-events/news/show?title=3rd-annual-ny-craft-beer-week or if inspired to do so, create your very own craft beer road trip post, which highlights your experience during the week. No you don’t have to drive anywhere to write a Road Triphttp://www.craftbeer.com/pages/stories/road-trips, simply give us the who-what-when…etc and make us jealous of your good beer fortune.

Cheers!

That's my fault for being unclear, LOL. Too bad its also going on to Tech Talk today, I'm sure there will be a bit of confusion there, as well. :D Here is what I was speaking of: http://www.americancraftbeerweek.com/retailer_resources.html. Thanks for keeping an eye for these ACBW Point-Of-Sales materials.

Cheers!

Hi All,

As American Craft Beer Week draws near, I am wondering if you have come across any of this year’s American Craft Beer Week Point-of-Sales materials in local bars or retailers. If so, please report back that you have seen these materials out there.  It is the first year that we have specifically worked to provide more ACBW presence at retail and we don’t have too many options on measuring its success. Best case scenario, you take a picture of it and send it to me (andy@brewersassociation.org).

The Brewers Association is so appreciative of the support that AHA members have provided to this program, thank you. Don’t forget to “like” the American Craft Beer Week page on Facebook to be entered to win a pair of tickets to each session of the Great American Beer Festival, this September.

Cheers,
Andy Sparhawk

General Homebrew Discussion / ACTION REQUESTED: Nationwide SYLB Alert
« on: March 15, 2010, 12:54:37 PM »
Please contact your U.S. Representative and ask that he/she sign on as a co-sponsor of H.R. 4278.
Dear Beer Enthusiasts, Homebrewers, Breweries & Beer-Allied Companies,
We are asking you to support America's small brewers by making a very simple request of your U.S. Representative to become a co-sponsor of H.R. 4278.
Federal legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives, H.R. 4278 http://www.brewersassociation.org/attachments/0000/1414/HR4278.pdf (link opens a PDF), seeks to enact a reduction in beer excise tax for America's small brewers.
For small brewers brewing less than 6 million barrels annually, this legislation would cut the small brewer tax rate in half, to $3.50/barrel on the first 60,000 barrels, and reduce the upper tax rate from $18/barrel to $16/barrel on beer production above 60,000 barrels up to 2 million barrels.
Read the entire SYLB Alerthttp://sylb.org/action-alerts/national_3.15.10.html.
Resources to help make the case for HR4278
The BA has developed a resource pagehttp://www.brewersassociation.org/pages/government-affairs/excise-taxes/hr-4278-resource-material to give you the information and tools you need to make the case to your Representative for supporting this tax relief measure—and by extension, for supporting the small brewery businesses that are such a vital part of our local communities.
Harvard University's John Friedman's study, Economic Impact of Small Brewers Excise Tax Reduction (H.R. 4278), (link opens a PDF), reveals that H.R. 4278 would also help stimulate job creation quickly and at a low cost. http://www.brewersassociation.org/attachments/0000/1942/HR_4278_Economic_Study_-_Final.pdf
