Events / What's with all the Rye?
« on: May 13, 2014, 08:11:53 PM »
A friend spotted this on Founder's website, one of the commerative beers for NHC 2014 it seems. If my memory serves me correctly, that is three years in a row for Rye beers. Philly's Rye Saison and Seattle's Rye IPA and now an oak-aged Rye IPA. Although in Seattle I believe it was the served at the banquet and not in the SWAG bag.

It will be awesome in Grand Rapids! Everyone should attend!! And if everyone does, that leaves plenty of room in the local joints for me! :-)

I just got my St. Paul scoresheet. My single entry did not place and according to the summary sheet there were 702 entries total in St. Paul for those counting.

Events / Re: Pro Brewers "NIGHT"

I like club night when the clubs aren't beer dumping. If they only have five great beers, then serve five. No need to bring 20 when 15 are less than stellar. IMO I should not have to dump a club night beer because it has major flaws. YMMV.
We're meeting the week before to taste all of the beers.  Everyone knows those that blow won't be served at Club Night.  Unfortunately we won't know the fate of the cask conditioned brews until they are tapped at Club Night.   8)
We know that Baron's never make beers that blow!  ::)

yeah, looking here..

this will be number 10 for me.

My first was the 2001 LA conference. Missed 2002 in Texas and 2005 in Baltimore.  Helped organized 2001, 2004, 2009 and 2011.
What??? There was a conference in Milwaukee in '92? And I had just started homebrewing and missed it. ;D

I've only been to Minneapolis in '10 and now Seattle in '12. Glad I caught the "nearly sold out" Tweet as I also reserved a hotel room right away and thought I'd have plenty of time to actually commit some cash to it. Apparently Twitter is useful after all.

Gordon -

I'm slowly working my way through the book and I think it is great so far. One thing I noticed is the ABV of your Gunn Clan Scotch Ale on page 61 is way to low for that grain bill!

Thanks for writing this!
