I see it is only available on one website, but many of the strains/blends are unavailable. Does he release things like the bugfarm and some of the more obscure brett strains staggered throughout the year, or does he have a particular time of year for these releases?

I remember liking this hop from many years ago, but then all the farmers pulled it out in favor of new varieties. But it looks like its available for pre sale from Hop Heaven. Pretty stoked to use it after a decade plus hiatus.

All Grain Brewing / "Slip Slide sparge method
« on: March 15, 2017, 11:15:07 PM »
I happened upon an old homebrewing articles from the early 80's that mentions a traditional "Slip-Slide" sparge method. A google search didn't yield any results as to what this is/was.

Anyone here familiar with this terminology and sparge method?

Looks like a malting facility is opening near me specializing in floor malted California grown barley. For some kind of fundraiser, if you pay 500 dollars you get a 50 pound sack of grain every month for a year once they open.

looks kind of interesting, has anyone ever heard of something like this?

« on: December 30, 2016, 10:09:54 PM »
About 10 years ago on a different forum, a thread like this was pretty fun and popular, we just gotta stick to one rule, no arguing or trying to change opinions. Just state your opinion or belief about brewing that doesn't seem popular..

Mine is.... I don't like Citra hops, they taste like soap and bell peppers to me.

Anyone have any concrete info as to how much oxygen actually permeates this size spiedel? I couldn't find any concrete studies that say exactly how much oxygen diffuses into them. I scored one for cheap from a winemaker and was thinking about getting a solera started.

Not sure if posts like this are allowed, and I am not affiliated with hopsdirect in any way except as a customer, but for cyber Monday they have a bunch of 2015 hops for 3 dollars a pound. Thought I'd share.

General Homebrew Discussion / Is there a monthly bottle swap here?
« on: November 09, 2016, 12:33:10 AM »
about ten years ago, I was a member of a forum that did a monthly bottle swap, where you were randomly paired with another brewer and you exchanged homebrews. Does this happen here?
