General Homebrew Discussion / New York - and Beer
« on: June 20, 2010, 04:45:06 AM »
I am coming to America (for my first visit) - sometime this October.
I'll be in the New York area for a week or so; and I'd really love to get some "Beer" recommendations:-
I'm particularly looking for microbreweries (Brooklyn/Manhattan), brewing stores and, of course, bars.
Love to get some information before I go.
Thanks David

General Homebrew Discussion / Pomegranate Ale
« on: May 23, 2010, 07:06:13 PM »
Hi everybody.
Been super busy brewing away - here in Israel.
I'm looking for a simple ale (Pale Ale) recipe that has Pomegranate juice added - also maybe some honey.
Any suggestions or ideas?
Planing to add the fruit juice during the boil but would happily try something else.

Kegging and Bottling / Multiple Bottle Filler
« on: March 01, 2010, 12:11:52 PM »
I am looking for a 'device' that could fill a number of bottles at once - I've seen something for wine (think 'milking a cow') but not for beer. I'm not looking for automation - just something a little faster than individual bottles.
Any leads or suggestions?

General Homebrew Discussion / Temperature for Priming bottles
« on: February 22, 2010, 04:36:51 PM »
I'm a bit confused: I ferment at about 20 centigrade and store my finished bottles of beer at about 16 degrees;
my question is - during the 2 weeks of bottle priming, should the beer be at 16 or 20 degrees. I've tried both and not noticed much difference, but I'd really like to know which temperature is "better"

Pimp My System / Design for a 500 liter system
« on: February 14, 2010, 06:50:00 PM »
I am now starting to plan a 500 liter (about 130 gallons) system. (up from my current 50 liter system).
Does anybody have a design for this size of system - or the names of  suppliers/manufactures??
All, and any, advice is very welcome.

General Homebrew Discussion / pH Meters
« on: February 10, 2010, 06:07:22 AM »
There was a discussion a few months ago about storing (and calibrating) pH meters.
However, I'd really like recommendations about particular models - especially the Hanna Instruments Beer Testing models.
Any opinions??

General Homebrew Discussion / On-Line Brewing Courses
« on: February 09, 2010, 05:45:50 AM »
Does anybody have personal experience from an on-line brewing course - Siebel, Davis etc??
If you do, please could you contact me - either through the forum or off-list.

General Homebrew Discussion / The BEST thermometer in the World
« on: February 06, 2010, 04:47:18 PM »
My thermometer died again yesterday - the second within a month!
The cheapies that I'm buying here ('cause that's all that's available) seem to attract moisture into their electronics and become totally useless very quickly.
I am looking for the best thermometer available - simple, reliable, metric scale and with a lifespan of more than 14 days (or 6 brews - whichever comes first)
Any recommendations - include please a link to on-line purchase plus "how long" you have owned your particular model.

General Homebrew Discussion / Kosher Hops
« on: February 03, 2010, 05:52:54 AM »
I am a craft brewer in Israel and it's important that all my ingredients be (certified) kosher - so that my beer would be 'available' to religious Jews.
I am having a real problem sourcing Hops and Irish Moss with a recognized "kosher" certification.
Any leads??

General Homebrew Discussion / BeerAlchemy and other software
« on: February 03, 2010, 05:45:00 AM »
Does anybody use the BeerAlchemy program - either on the Apple and/or on their iPhone??
If "yes" - I would love to get recipes that I could add to my library database of beers - or are there any sites that I could download recipes from?
And since I'm on the topic: are there any  "must have" iphone applications that members recommend??
Thanks for the help

Kegging and Bottling / Bottle Color
« on: February 01, 2010, 06:17:17 PM »
I am a craft brewer in Israel - and the availability of beer making supplies is very limited. I am looking for bottles and found "regular" brown and green - both in 330cc size. I was also offered a really nice pale green bootle - very pale! Almost translucent with a tinge of green. Really nice looking - and made my beer look great. I know that dark glass is considered better, but I'd really like to hear about experience with very pale bottles. And especially in sunny climates. Thanks for any advice. David
