Commercial Beer Reviews / Cigar City Jai Alai IPA
« on: January 27, 2013, 12:31:12 AM »
I'm so happy to have easy access to Cigar City Brews.  I just tried their Jai Alai IPA (canned) and it is probably one of the most flavorful IPAs out there.    This one does have a low hop profile, but it's still a high class IPA in my book.

Anybody have the opportunity to try it?  Especially out of the can.

Here's my video review on it, if you would like to check it out.

Commercial Beer Reviews / Affligem Blond
« on: September 27, 2012, 01:24:36 AM »
My first go at an Affligem beer went well.   Affligem Blond had a nice balance of subtle sweetness and spices. I'm looking forward to their dubbel and Tripel in the future.

Anybody here a fan on Affligem beers?

Here's my video review on it if you guys like to check it out:

Commercial Beer Reviews / Found A Decent Laid Back Summer Beer
« on: June 02, 2012, 06:03:09 AM »
I have always been a fan of their Sunset Wheat beer, but I finally gave Leinenkugel Summer Shandy a chance this summer.
It just had a simple lemon taste that wasn't overwhelmingly sweet like some other Lemon flavored beers I've tried.
I would easily pick this over Samuel Adams Summer Ale.

Here's my short(2 min) video review on it if anybody is interested:

I haven't tried Newcastle Brown Ale in awhile, so I decided to give it a review.

Just didn't enjoy this one.

Commercial Beer Reviews / Innis & Gunn Winter Beer 2011
« on: December 13, 2011, 10:43:50 PM »
Just tried it and was very disappointed.  I can't put my finger on it, but it just didn't do it for me.

Video Review:

Has anybody else tried this one before?

Commercial Beer Reviews / Innis & Gunn Original - Pretty good, but
« on: November 20, 2011, 04:44:32 AM »
..but kind of overpriced in my area(FL).

I ended up getting the gift set which had the following beers: Original, Rum Cask, and  Winter Beer 2011.  I've only tried the Original so far.

The Original was a very charming beer.  It it had nice vanilla and caramel flavor, finished off with some fruity notes.
Has anybody here tried this?

Commercial Beer Reviews / Not Digging This Pumpkin Ale.
« on: September 30, 2011, 03:40:13 PM »
I tried Shipyard Pumpkinhead Ale a few days ago and I was quite disappointed.  The watery finish and the lack of that pumpkin ale taste  made this my least favorite pumpkin beer.   For me, it's not worth the price.

Commercial Beer Reviews / Finally Tried Dogfish Head Punkin Ale!
« on: September 17, 2011, 02:20:40 AM »

I personally liked this one more than Weyerbacher's pumpkin ale. The taste was a lot more balanced with the pumpkin and spices.

The Pub / Beer Trade Etiquette
« on: September 01, 2011, 05:56:23 AM »
I was just wondering how beer trades usually work(money, sending it out, what's a good number of bottles to send out etc.)

Is it legal to mail beer in the States?

What other advice can you give me when it comes to beer trading?

Any help would be great!

Commercial Beer Reviews / Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale
« on: August 27, 2011, 09:30:12 PM »
I just drank this a couple nights ago. It tasted pretty good, but I wanted more pumpkin than spices. For me, the cinnamon dominated the taste.

What's your favorite pumpkin beer?

I hear Southern Tier and Dogfish Head brew some nice pumpkin beers.

The taste wasn't complex, but it did have more to offer than your regular American lager. I experienced sweet malt in the front and middle. In the back end, I was hit with this lemony/salty flavor that surprisingly wasn't off putting. This was light to medium body with a thin watery texture. Carbonation feel was soft that went well with the lemony finish.

All in all, this was a pretty decent beer. For around six dollars a six pack, you really can do worse. I definitely see myself buying a 6-12 pack of this and watching a sporting event or busting it out for a tailgate.

For those people that have had tried it, What do you think of this lager?

The Pub / Which sport do you enjoy drinking beer to the most?(Poll)
« on: August 11, 2011, 12:43:01 AM »
I was just curious if you guys like drinking beer to a particular sport more than another.

For me, the perfect sport to drink beer to is football.

What about you and why?

This had a little bit of everything. The dominant aroma was banana and wheat. Also had hints of sweet grape and cloves. A slight alcohol smell that went well with the grape.
Sweet caramel and banana up front. Finished off with a spicy flavor.
This is one of my favorite beers. Just checked the BA guidelines and this weizenbock is spot on..

Have you guys tried their Weizen-Eisbock?

Commercial Beer Reviews / Golden Pheasant (Zlaty Bazant)
« on: July 21, 2011, 10:38:34 PM »
Appearance: A nice clear golden body with a 2 finger head. The beer produced a frothy white color.  Little retention.
Aroma:Aroma was faint overall.  A hint of sweet malt and grassy notes.
Taste: A sweet acidic taste in the front which faded away towards the middle.  You are later hit it a spicy citrus bitterness that is moderate. Didn't like the mouth feel on this one. It had a watery/creamery feel that didn't go well with this style of beer.

A pretty good pilsener, but it lost some points with me because it lacked a dry/crisp finish.

In general, What's your go to pilsener?  I personally like Warsteiner's pilsener.
